I grew up in Spring Lake and fished it in the winter when I was bored and just wanted to catch fish. It is a rather shallow lake, you can catch as many dink perch as you like in the winter. I have caught some pike and gills to, but nothing of much size.

Small pike and lots of weeds I fished it a few times in the winter. Never did any good on gills.

as stated its very shallow. you can walk from one side to the other in several spots. however there are some deep holes, 10-15 feet deep. you find the deep holes and you can do well. lots of big crappie and gills, as well as bass and pike. just have to find the deep water and get away from the perch.
caught my biggest gill out of that lake, 11 inches and just over 1 lb.

Yeah, I fish alot in the summer also caught my share of the hogs. Cant seem to locate them in the winter, probably hiding in all the weeds and no chance to catch them.

I was wondering if someone would be kind enough to tell me were a public access to that lake would be. I have looked at a few different maps and i am not sure.

The west end of the lake there are parts and peices owned by the park,P.J.Hoffmaster.Look at a map of the park and you will see.Or you can park on wood road and walk in the same place everyone gets on it in the summer.Or if your a member of the eagles you can get on through their prop.
