Ive always had the best luck with wax worms....of course combined with a jig / tear drop (yellow or orange)

Bluegill and Sunnies will rarely hit a minnow unless it is a nice size fish. I have always had my best luck with Wax Worms as well.

Here is a tip that works for me. If you are in an area with lots of small fish biting it can be fun for a while. After that it can be a pain in the a**. I use just a minnow head. Pinch them in two with you thumb and finger. This seems to allow for the bite to continue but you will find you are getting more bigger fish. The length of the minnow head seems to make a diffrence also. One good thing is you don't need live minnows:fish:
Use a "MoonGlo" in dingy water. Hope this helps.... Mike

Wax Worms! I would only use minnows if I was specifically going for Crappies or Perch.

Waxworms for gills and sunfish, minnows for crappie, and for perch either a minnow or a wiggler. At times the fish seem to want something different though.

I prefer a couple spikes threaded on the hook. horizontal jig size 14 for bluegill. the crappie will tear them up also.I never leave home without waxies though . I pinch off the head of the waxie and cover the hook and partial jig head allowing the tail to hang down below on a vertical jig.good luck

Waxies without any doubt, crappies will take them also.
