I hope to be going to mitchell sat.We get bait from Pilgrims and usually get a decent report. We many fish the big bay.We have had better luck setting tipups 4 to 5 ft down rather than deeper.Last year did well on crappie as well out from the boy scout camp.I sure hope to bring the 4 wheel drive out to save the walking. Good Luck and run braided or mono instead of steel.

fished mitchell on friday and saturday, the weather was bad and the fishing was worse, it was extremely windy both days, we had 12 guys out there and caught maybe 20 fish total and of those only three were keepers (crappie), we had ten tip-ups out and never had a flag, lots of vehicles out there all over the lake, saw alot of people with tip-ups out and never saw a flag up, the guys at pilgrims said it really slowed down lately , we didn't try lake cadillac, but they said it was slow too i tell ya they sure are generous with the minnows at pilgrims, i bought 6 pike minnows and they must have given me over a dozen

Myself and a buddy are thinking of trying out Mitchell in a couple weeks. We usually make an annual trip to Fletchers floodwaters but the past couple of trips have been pretty below average when it comes to the fishing. For the most part we only fish for Pike with tipups, does anyone have an opinion on Mitchell for someone that will be looking only for good size Pike? Also we have never fished the lake before so any recommendations on some good spots to look for the toothy beasts?

Just drove by this weekend. Lots of trucks on Lake Caddilac, by 115. High concentration of fishermen there.

I am heading up this weekend. Just found out about the tourny. I was hoping it would be a quiet weekend on the ice since this will be my first time fishing Mitchell. Oh well, I won't be entering, but it should be entertaining.
Can anybody tell me where the boy scout camp is? Also, where do you guys get on the ice? I'm looking at a map and it appears there is a launch somewhere near Thirsty's off 55 and another down by the campground at the west end. Just looking for some first time advice not a honey hole. Post or PM if you have any ideas. Thanks guys.

boy scout camp is on the West side of the lake. There is a big bay on the far west end and the Camp is on the North point leading into that bay.

Looks like the tourney results are up on the Pilgrams website, nothing to impressive size wise but it sounds like everyone had a good time. Will be heading up with a buddy and his dog to fish Mitchell for the first time this Sat. and Sun.,if anyone has any hotspots for Pike and wants to drink some free beer and enjoy some fine "herbal;)" relaxation send a PM.

My father and uncle fished this past weekend and did very poor. They had 6 flags that were all due to the wind. They did not see one pike pulled up on the ice and they fished both Mitchell and Cadillac. Lots of ice before the thaw, and I would imagine they should be a lot left afterwords. My dad bottomed the gas auger out right when it broke through the ice. I have never heard of so much ice in the area.
They also did manage to catch a few rock bass, gills, and crappie.

Watch the shore ice. I have heard of the shore ice is melting away so be
careful.
