Editor's note: Muskegon County Sheriff's Sgt. Gary Berdinski has been using a snowmobile for patrols for the past eight years, riding anywhere from eight to 12 hours a week, depending on weather conditions.
Muskegon County has about 150 miles of snowmobile trails, including rail trails such as the Hart-Montague Trail. Berdinski also patrols along the private Twisting Trails in Holton Township.
