Last week, twice, I saw, in two different locals, a flock of Starlings. Then Saturday, I saw a Bluebird......

......EARLY SPRING?????

(I've had Bluebirds winter-over here at home before, saw them in early and late Feb., but never saw Starlings in the winter -- they usually come back North with the Redwing Blackbirds and Cowbirds!)

Some Starlings and Bluebirds stay the entire winter. My Son saw a group of Robins last week. I saw a flock of Robins the first week in January one year. Don't count on birds as a Spring indicator. ;)

I have Bluebirds at my place year round. I leave my nesting boxes up and they use them in the winter for shelter.

I heard a robin yesterday morning when I was shoveling the snow. Could not locate it visually but heard it. No doubt complaining about the weather.

Saw a group of about 30 robins on some bare grass near some berry trees this afternoon.

... springs not too far away ;) ..... I JUST heard Sandhill cranes and Redwing Blackbirds ! WON'T BE TOO LONG NOW ! (hope, Hope, HOPE!) Actually, I LOVE winter .... it's just that this one has had such LOW temps at night that it's been a tough one to bear.
