I hate going on the weekends with all the weekend warriors that dont care about others. I asked to watch the language, but got the F word myself! My boy is 6 and wants to fish. I'll have to take him to inland lakes. Hope he doesn't bring this new words to school Monday!

Yeah some people are just plain idiots. We saw a few clowns out there yesterday. First one came within 2 feet of our shanty, flyin by on a two wheel drive quad:yikes: IDIOT. Then we had a green explorer full of yahoo's driving around in circles looking for a BEER BOTTLE that one of the clowns said he left on the ice yesterday to "mark the spot" UNREAL:rant: And lucky for us we were not catching anything so we got up and left after listening to them f-bombing it up. Fine & all if your with your buddies, but you dont need to scream it. Cant fix stupid Sorry you & your son had to witness that.

The lake is there for everyone to enjoy. Rich poor fat skinny black white red yellow male female gay straight Christian Jews Moslems , and yes even me. The kids grow up fast and its sad that some kids never grow up. Its like watching TV or surfing the internet. If you don't like whats on, you got to change the channel. :(

Although I hate when people use the f-bomb, by far, the worst thing you can hear on the ice is a dad yelling at his kid(s). This just gets my blood boiling. Yelling at your kids is no way to get them into the sport. Some people just don't belong on the ice. Sorry your son now has a new word in his vocabulary.

I had a similiar experience a few weeks back with my young daughter. She really wanted to go ice fishing so I took her to a local marina that I knew was loaded with dinks (so she could catch something and remain interested). There were several loud drunks a few shanties away. They kept talking about wanting to date some guys ex old lady. It was graphic enough that I learned a few things.

With the marina being so small there was no place else to move. We packed it up early and left. Thanks for ruining our father/daughter fishing trip Mr Loud Mouth Dirty Talker Guy

It is there for everyone to enjoy. The guy asked him to lighten up on the cussing and the guy tells him to F-off. Sounds like a real winner to me. Just because kids do grow up fast doesn't mean that some yahoo has to help him along by him cussing after he was asked politley to stop.:(

Some of you folks need to take a reality pill. Kids will hear that language and more when they are in school or on the playground. Don't believe it? Try this.

When it gets warm out and a bunch of the neighborhood kids are playing in your yard, stand at an open window out of sight and just listen. Seven and Eight-year-olds talking like drunken sailors.

You better move deep, deep, deep into the woods and home school your kids if you don't want them to hear that stuff.

It goes on at baseball, football, hockey, basketball, town hall meetings, slow checkout lines. gas stations, parking lots, road rage. I just wonder why its not worse. I was in charge of an outside 13th birthday party with 35-40 kids last summer. ( soccer dancing water balloon fights ) Never ever heard one fowl word. I know they heard it all before. Back in my day there would have been smoking and maybe some homemaid wine in the bushes. Somebody must be doing something right out there:)

Maybe in your neighborhood 7 and 8 year olds talk like that, but not in mine. It's all about raising kids properly. That's MY reality...

You took the words right out of my mouth Mike......If anyone is delusional enough to think that their going to protect their kids from hearing, learning, or using "the chosen 7", then their going to be in for a rude awakening. What's worse is making a big deal over the words. Then the kids think their really doing something wrong, and will use them. If parents don't overreact the infatuation with the words fade away.

Just like making a big deal over a 11 year old watching a R rated movie.....The last thing you want these kids doing is having to sneak, lie, and do things behind your back. The temptations are just too great.

Using that kind of language is a show of ones character. And although we can not prevent our young ones from running into such crowds from time to time we do need to protect the innocent ones from such abuse. At the same time, we need to be a good role model to our kids and teach them that this kind of language is a show of "Bad" character and teach them how to not be the same and teach them how to establish their own personalities without such perversion in their lives both as children and adults.

Unfortunately the F word has become very popular in todays language in our society.Im guilty myself of using it but I watch my language around children.

Theres hardly any place a person/people can go without hear somebody use the F word.I hear 6-7and 8 year old kids cursing worse than I do.
The only way a person can keep thier kids from learning the F word and others is to keep them sheltered in a closet.

back when my oldest was in 6th grade, me and my wife were in charge of the 6th grade graduation activities, there was a dozen kids at the B-ball net, and all of them there were using every word in the book at each other, mf-er, c-suc-r, everything,,, and their mothers were standing there watching, i looked at them and said you allow this??? they keep saying its court talk nothing wrong with it and gave me an atitude that i had a probelem with how their kids talked.

If everyone would just use those 7 words all the time, they would lose their meaning and this would be a happier world where nobody would complain about a single word being the major problem of the day.

MCzerny, this is not directed at you, just a general statement on the word matter. I would have probably clocked the guy for telling me to f off after asking nicely. I curse like a sailor, and have my beleifs (as stated above) on said words, but even I know when to NOT use said words, and when to smack the back of my 23 yer olds head when he uses those words around certain people.

There would probably be a lot less of that talk if the Fish would show up and begin bitting!:D I've asked people to tone in down and always mention ladies and children in my request. Usually get apoligies in return. Do you think being 6'3' and 260 could have anything to do with it?

It's a big lake..You could have moved at the first sign of a problem :( ...Or hang out and show your kid how not to act......

although 6 is kind of young to try and teach proper socialization. I would have just moved and not ever said a word to the meat-heads!

There's no excuse for using foul language in front of children, but unless you've kept them locked up in the house they've already heard most of it. I guarantee you won't get anywhere trying to improve the manners of strangers, but don't concern yourself too much. Your kids will follow your lead, not theirs.
