Slow. Fished 8 fow 1 mile past tree line. Taxi is running 6 bucks for round trip. Marine city ferry did run in the am. By mid day river was full of ice, had to take blue water bridge. Fished near XE4 buoy and did not catch very many. Water is clear, perch are here but not biting. Minnows are the ticket I hear. I talked to a few guys who had minnows and I guess they were catching only dinks. Snow is packed down tree line. Seen quads, snow mobiles, three wheelers and cars running out there. From what it sounded, it was slow all over. Sunny day and that high pressure could have turned the bite off. Tomorrow is another day, will report if I go back. I fished with #4 firetiger rapala with red jensen egg. Dad used a slab grabber spoon in bronze and pulled a few hogs, but few fish.

How far right of left of the tree line or straight out do most people go. Planning on trying MBay monday, but being a first timer looking for any and all info I can get. Thanks to all who respond.

Check this site out...

It will answer all your questions.

BTW, went back there again today. I went myself and brought the machine. I took the bridge and round trip took a long 2 hours. I hoped for a good day. I started the day off 1 mile past tree line again in 8 FOW. Sat on a waypoint and nothing. Made 2 more holes in a 100 yard area... nothing. I looked towards BAck BAy and seen a crowd. I made a move there and sat down near a couple guys with some air boats. Seen a few fish being caught here and there nothing hot. 1 hole, 1 fish. I couldn't understand it. Picked up a few keepers and crowd thinned out so did fish. Moved towards St. Lukes and fished near another waypoint. Once again 1 hole 1 fish. Ended the day with only 4 keepers. Wow. What a disappointment. Got back to shore at 2 and went home. Stopped at Sombra ferry and closed. Took bridge back home, 1/2 hour wait at customs. 5 hours of driving, 5 hours fishing. Once again seemed the guys who fished minnows weren't complaining. Heard limits were had yesterday out near back bay.

I'm bringing the shanty with minnows next time I go and hopefully things will change. THe water is clearing up pretty good, maybe its time to go deep.
