I have seen an awful lot about refrigerator dills on this site but not much about bread and butter refrigerator pickles so I am going to give you guys an awsome recipe. For all of you guys that are about to say you don't like sweet tasting pickles please give these one try. I myself have been adding either jalepenos or hungarian hots to spice these up and I think they are much better that way. I doesn't take much to heat up a jar.

Ingredients: Sliced pickles, sliced onions, 3 cups white vinegar, 3 cups
sugar, 1 tsp. tumeric, 1 tsp. celery seed and 1 tsp powdered mustard.

Directions: Mix everything except pickles and onions, bring to a boil, put in fridge or freezer until cold then pack your jars and just pour cooled brine over. These pickles are ready to eat the next day. By the way I have one friend who is so cheap I made him supply pickles for his own jars, he wouldn't buy any but gave me some regular cukes from his garden and they were just as good.

I never used to like B&B Pickles, but they're starting to grow on me. I'll have to try these out.

I went to my local produce shop and they had some really nice pickles so I said what the heck and bought a case. The case weighed 52.5 pounds. Couldn't get the fresh dill that I would have liked but I did get two big bunches of soup dill. I hope it works out I have been using swf1960's recipe for the dills and my recipe for the bread and butters. By the way all those pickles made 49 quarts and it only cost $3o.oo.

I bought some of the Mrs. Wages B&B mix this summer and used it. I packed all the leftovers from my garden into the jars. Carrots, onions, cauliflower, cukes, radishes, banana peppers, and a couple kohlrabi.

Let me tell you, not to brag, but man, I cry every time I eat some it is so darn good. A few jars are a little spicy because those were not ALL banana peppers as I later found, but still some darn good snacking and side dishes with dinner.
