metro 1/23/09

Just got back from the day sail ramp at metro. Fished 11 to 3pm. Not much going on. We were in 8 1/2 fow. Had 2 8" and 1 10" fish for our effort. Ended up putting those back. Went for over an hour and never marked a fish on the vex. That was around 1pm. There was a short run of fish at 2:15, then nothing. The few decent fish we did get were on minnows and a foot or more off the bottom. Won't get out again till Tues.

Thank you for the report. Was the water cloudy still. I was out wed. and the water was pretty cloudy. Ill be out tommarrow and sunday. Ill get back with a report tommarrow evening.

The water was a little dirty. We could still see the bait all the way down with the shanty closed up.

Fished the day sail from 4 to 5:30. I was bucket setting and the wind was a bear. Fished 3.5 to about 5.0 feet. Caught about 20 fish at the
shallow dept but all 4 - 6". Moved twice out to 5' pick up 8 more fish but only one made 7". Picked up that one at 5:15. Marked lots of fish after picking up the last but could not get any hits. using spikes on jigs - Harry's and also tried some Riddles. Best color was a hot lime green with a small hard orange bead tipped with a spike. hit was soft.

Had I know the wind was blowing so hard I would have skipped the lake and kick around the back basin.

the day started around 11.00 am and around 12.30/ 2.30 the action was good.
missed more than we caught. finikey and not aggressive at all.
had to work hard to catch these fish.
went to left from the launch and about 6ft of water.
minnows.
fished till 4.00 and the fish grew a lot smaller, thru alot of the dinks back.
the wind chased us off. other wise proably would of stayed longer.
