Dragging the boy out this afternoon and would welcome some info on where to take him to catch some nice size fish. I know that you guys are not gonna give up and honey holes and I would not expect you to. I am going out there with my 12 y/o son and do not want to drag him 1 mile out as that will turn him "off" in a heart beat.

SO with that being said, could anyone offer me up some good advise where I should take him in hopes of bringing home some keepers? He has been out once before with me early in the season where we caught dinks and did not bring anything home. I have finally got him to gain some interest again and am hoping that he has a good experience.

I dont know what it is with kids these days. I mean I have to compete for time with him between his friends, XBox, and the like. It is frusterating for me as all I want to show him is the "outdoors". What happened to the good old days?

Thanks for any help gents! :)

Hey lyle, I see your from SCS. I have fished the shores many times and done well in the marinas. Not to mention your son won't have to walk very far. Might be worth a try.

Id try off metro, sang or fairhaven....at least the water is clear and u can see the fish.... if u can find them!!!

A spear might come in handy too..the kids always seemed to enjoy trying to hit them for some reason..

Im going to gice metro a shot just casue I havent been down there in awhile.

I've heard of a few good catches off of Genos but you have to walk to deeper water. About 10-12ft. That could be a bit of a walk. I'd just make sure you bring some treats for you sun, like a candy bar. Maybe some hot chocolate. Even though they are small these things can make a difference between a cranky kid and a happy one. Good luck ;)

Thanks for the help guys. We have been there and done that with the Dink action around the marinas and I have talked with him about Ginos and we are going to give it a try. Told him to put his walking boots on!! lol He said he is game so we will see what he thinks after the day is done!! He has a half day from school today so we are headed out shortly.

Again folks, thanks for the input!! :D

lol...I'll bet!!

Also, I will have the "Hunters Orange" tape on the zippers of my Shappel S3000! It has the silver colored shell. If you see me out there, stop on in and say hi!! :D

Best regards fellas and be safe!!
