Anyone who plans on fishing at the raft watch it in the 1st canal.I didnt walk in there very far because of how much slush and water was on the ice.Theres some holes that someone drilled and the ice doesnt look very thick in there maybe 2-3 inches. The ice might be better in the middle of the canal but with all the water and slush I wasnt going to go very far in there.

I am not questioning your post ,but with all this cold weather we have been having that almost seems impossible for them canals at the Raft to be soft or thin.

I think what is happening is the all the weight os the snow is pushing the ice down and with the water comming up its melting some of the ice. There was alot of slush on top and I wasnt about to walk through there. It should be fine after this weekends colder temps freeze it back up.Nobody was fishing in there today.

Aaron I saw you in the canal about 4:30 if that was you. I was in the 2nd canal heading in at that time.

John I had already headed out before 4pm I knew that I should have called you though just to see if you were out.

It might be a gas pocket forming...

I ran the sled through some real slushy spots about 2 miles off SANG yesterday so I know theres some weak/wet spots out there....

Thanks for the report...Could very well be gas pockets...also remember we have snow witch is a factor the weight ,insulation, also salt and melting of the roads have something to do with it.....Mark
