Can a few of you take a picture of your front bead on your bird barrel and post it?

I just bought a 26" vent rib barrel and didn't open it until I got home. It really dissapointed me to find a POS tiny white "bulb" protruding from the vent rib. The vent rib is also very corase too...worse than a rough file.

Did I get a ****** barrel or are they all like this?

I decided to try turkey hunting last year, thats when I realized there was a bead on the end of my shotgun. J/K, but seriously-I don't even see the bead on my gun when shooting birds in flight.

My BIL just bought a Rem. 870 SPS and the rib was the same as you described. It is intentionally done that way to reduce glare while looking down the rib. Most vent ribs you see now have either cross-hatches or ribs for that purpose. I was surprised at how rough the top of the rib was on the BIL's gun, seems a little overdone-

So the tiny bead is common too KLR?

Looks like I may need an aftermarket fiber optic then.

Yep. Probably the same one they've been using since they progressed past a brass bead. Hi-Viz makes some good after market gun sights.

KLR,

If you're still watching. Do you know if that crappy front bead is screwed in or not? I can't really tell. It almost looks like it's melted in or something.

If it screws in, it'd be great cuz I found a cheap fiber optic bead at Dunhams to replace it with. Wouldn't mind knowing before I trying messing with it though.

I'm pretty sure its soldered on to the gun-

Here is a link to HI-VIZ (hope it works, can't actually go on to "weapons" related sites from my work computer ). I'm sure they make one that would snap on to your rib in front of the factory bead, obscuring the ugly little turd.

If it's anything like mine, it was pressed into the hole on the rib. A real PITA.
I FINALLY got it removed, after pretty much destroying it.
I redrilled and tapped for a screw on fiber optic bead.

Tell me why you need a bead on a shotgun when wingshooting?
you should be looking at the bird not the bead.
Try skeet, you don't have time to look for the bead.:dizzy:
