I am considering adding a 7'6" or 7'11" rod to my collection. The question I have is......is there any difference in feel with a telescoping rod verse a non.

Any suggestions or comments will be appreciated. Currently I am looking at possibly a Kistler or a St. Croix.

Maybe that old Diawa Telescoping i had was such a dinasour that it jaded me? he he he but i WONT buy one again!
I would argue that: there's no chance a 2 pc rod can ever be as sensitive as a 1 pc rod! apples to apples that is!
If and when rather i get a new flip/pitch rod it will likely be a Quantum 1pc in no less than 7'4", im not a tall man, 5'9" is a strech, so having an 8ft rod would be a bit of overkill!? ya think?
Quantum has awesome rods, the Signature Tour Editions are in my price range, sensitive and reliable, much in the same calss as their Tour Edition reel's and if you havent tried a Tour Edition reel well your missing the Boat so to speak!
It's all a matter of choice, the real problem is there's no way to TEST drive a rod?
For instance last fall I bought a Shimano Crucical 7'2" dropshot rod!
DUDE was I dissapointed! Had I had an opurtunity to TEST drive it, no way in H*LL i woulda bought it! no way!
Compared to my POWELL its just not in the same ball park!
Id sell it cheep lol or kinda, I paid 129.99 +$18 shipping for it, l would take $100 if anyone is interested? PM me!
Maybe selling it wil lhelp me get a new FLIP?PITCH ROD!

Last season I got a 7'6 fenwick hmg flippin stick telescoping and love it. It is light weight for it's size, has great back bone, I can pitch and flip with it better then the 7' I used to use, and love how it folds own for storage.

will a 7 1/2 one peice fit in your rod locker?

I have a 18ft 6in ChampioN, yes I can easily locker in a 7'6" rod!
Tho id rather go with a 1 pc 7'4" Heavy, Ex fast!

Well I'm only 5'8" tall on a good day so the longer rods just don't work so great with me for some applications... like flippin and pitchin... I find myself just about hitting the water's surface now and then and a longer rod would only make it that much worse. So I'm currently using a 7' MH Shimano Crucial and it seems to be working for me so far. BUT, I only started flippin and pitchin this past season so I'm sure there are better rods, but like I said this one is working for me.

I also just got a custom rod thru work... it's 6'8" heavy action, but it's definitely stiffer than the Shimano. It's IM 8 rated and seems to be very sensitive, and man is it light!! So I'm gonna try this one also.

Also, the rod locker I built into my boat will just BARELY take a 7' rod so the slightly shorter rod might be a better fit anyway.

my flippin piching rod is an old homemade job that is only 6 or 6 1/2 foot and love it. are flipping and pitching rods longer so you can be more accurate or what? love the technique though there is nothing funner

I looked at the quantum rods but recently they have slipped my mind. I will have to re-visit them. What ever I decide it will be paired up with the PT Accurist Burner that I picked up at Cabelas on sale this winter. A one piece rod that is 7'6" should fit into the locker with any issue (19' Ranger). Well keep the ideas coming.

Thanks everyone
