Do you think the blue gill or perch camera scare the fish? I am not convinced one way or the other. What are your thoughts?

Have not played much with my camera, just for that reason. I can be marking fish pretty decent with the vex, than I drop the camera down the hole and the fish leave. Basic use for me is to set it up on a tip-up and watch the pike hit.

I have the Fish Tv camera the camera is shaped like a fish but has no color just lead color. I have no problems with fish coming around the camera. It's especially cool when the pan fish scatter and then the camera starts spinning around because a pike is trying to eat it LOL

The camera is intended to already be down the hole and then rotate 360. The fish evaluate the camera either A. It's a threat or B. It's not. Long as you do not do anything funny like put the camera down the hole when your vex or whatever spikes there should be no issue.
I have a couple sprigs of fake seaweed-type things strung around it to make it look like, well....real weeds....and I've never had any trouble.
It's my guess that, at least in my case, the "weed"-covered cable represents some type of structure, and makes the fish comfortable.
Forget shelling out the money for the ice-fishing stuff they sell - it's top dollar. Go to a craft store or something. You can get the stuff they use for floral arrangements MUCH cheaper.

I've never seen fish afraid of my camera. However I've watched fish scatter because a teardrop jig gets lowered in. I also have "weeds" on my cable for the first 3' or so. I bought stuff at a pet store for in an aquarium for my version of the grass. Way cheaper and it looks "real".

For the most part I think it attracts fish for me. Just my observations.

I've had both reaction's , but i've had some pike that scared me in the shanty when they came right up to the screen and went "DA DUNT...DA DUNT....DUNT DUNT DUNT DA DUNT" The underwater folage arrangements are a great idea from even left over fish tank plants.

This last weekend was the first time I used an under water camera so my experience with them is limited, but I didn't see any adverse affects using the camera. If anything we had more fish especially when we had an under water flood light on. The fish would come up and investigate. The under water camera is a great tool in helping catch fish.

Last week we had 1 Fish TV (looks like a lead colored fish) and 1 Cabelas brand underwater camera (does not look like a fish) under the shanty. We were catching fish before and after the cameras were put in. I didnt notice much of a reaction from the fish. :fish:
We did have a big old catfish headbutt the cabelas camera 3 or 4 times. Now that was funny to watch.
