I know a few guys are curious as to the major difference from the flashers and and the sonar units. I took a little vid with my phone while out today.
This is what I was looking for when making my decision but didn't see anything like it so this may help some one way or the other.
I didn't even scratch the surface of what this thing can do but it's a quick overview of what the sonar and flasher views look like on this unit.

Wow, there is a lot to it, judging by the menu you displayed, alot can be adjusted. I do like my Vexilar, shows the fish are down there and thats good enough for me. However when it does show signs of age I may try the Lowrance. Glad you posted a video.

Chad....there are a ton of adjustment options for sure. I flashed through only the first page of the menu. There's another full page as well.
In the "pro" column for some with the vexilar however is ease of use.
2-3 dials that do everything is nice and really easy to use...this has a bit more of a learning curve for sure.
Also adjustments are rarely "one touch" or on a dial like the Vex. It's nearly always multiple button pushes.
Of course I've only had it a week and still getting the hang of it but I'm very pleased with it so far.

Are you running with the auto depth on? If you are then that is probably why the depth is changing. Also IH772 recommended to set the upper and lower depth so you aren't wasting any space on the screen. Mine also works great when you adjust the colorline up.

No...I set it to 10 feet.
I haven't messed with the upper lower yet but I will.
I really have no idea what the colorline thingy is at all:lol:
Medic...Pm at ya bro.
Ryguy...bring it:cool: But be careful where ya park. I'm a sore loser:lol:
I got on the bigger sunnies and Papermouths again today Ry...they're onto us. I hit the far side near those reeds again and they magically grew;)

I think you can download a demo of the M68c off the lowrance website. I know they use to have it but not sure if they still do. The downloaded demo was a big reason I first bought the lowrance. It really helps you learn how to get to and adjust all the settings before you spend the money. I wish they would make the x67c with a dual beam transducer. I hated marking my friends jigs while fishing in the shanty because it made it hard to notice fish.

i thought about going over there yesterday. But i had my girlfriend with me and i knew she wouldn't be up for the walk over there. The next full moon you and i will have to hit it for a a night trip and see if we can get some crappies.

good video.
I would definately try using the manual depth mode and setting upper and lower limits. This is one of the most useful changes in graph mode.
Others have suggested setting the depth range first, then the sensitivity, then the colorline if you really want to optimize the view. I just used auto modes for the first season and got a lot out of it, but after a while it's fun to see what the extra control will produce.

It just makes me wonder how many guys never really new how to use there flashers. You got people here that have had a lowrance 67 for what one or two weeks giving advice and telling everyone what settings ect.
All I can say is WOW, I guess Scotty hoover words were true "sooner or later the internet will make everyone an expert";)
you got me wondering if I should run out and get me one, maybe I could get my limit in one hour instead of two;)

Actually have had great times CATCHING fish using my vex fl-18,or my zercom back in the late 80`s,even the old eagle-portable in the 70`s I was using ....All did what they were supposed to do for me .Something new and improved(imho), Hey maybe it will be the last unit I ever buy:lol:....Like my Taylor Made`s....But thats another can of worms I know;)....TommyN,Not that you need my reason for changing gear, but I like the gragh/mode for whitefish`n.Simple as that for me.As for the guys who take the time and effort to help, you dudes keep it up! Although most of us ice-guys have boats and know about settings ect...Keep it com`n we appreciate it all.

I have the m68c unit and love it. only one wish to make this hard/soft water unit tops, the ability to load hot maps into it. I could spend the extra 700 bones for the unit with the large screen, I think I will just buy the hand held that the hot maps can be loaded on. Alot cheaper and easier to utilize. by that i mean you dont have to stop to look at yer finder to teel where your at. Scott D.

If I was in the market I would take a closer look, but I am still doing fine with what I have;) I enjoy the simplicity on the ice.
I don't really think theres any fight, I see alot of people that have all the stuff but still can't catch fish, oh they get a few and they think think there doing alright until they look in my pail and get slapped back to reality:D
If the screen was larger might think about one for the boat though, just the graph unit not the gps combo/graph as I prefer to have my units seperate so I can look at a full screen on each. And not about to give up the garmin 182 just yet, the map chip of lake huron/saginaw is bad *****
I can say I rather enjoy reading all the hpye though, carry on boys
