Thinking of buying the electric Masterbuilt smoker, does anyone have this, and could you tell me if it has hooks for hanging summer sausage?

Not sure if they come with hooks now, but when I bought mine several years ago, it only came with the racks. not a bad smoker at all, just do not leave it in the sun as the plastic cover on the control panel becomes brittle.

just bought one the other day. put it together and the controler had something rattling inside it. called cust. service they said nothing to worry about. well being the nosey person i am i took it apart there was a extra screw and a bunch of epoxy. put it back together and it worked fine for about a hour and then it quit all together. called cust. service again and asked about the trouble codes and the reply was if you get a code the controler is shot and they would send a new one.
its a nice smoker but there are a few corners cut when they assembled it.

and no hooks

I have been hearing alot more grumbling about these units in the last 6 months. Not sure where they are asembled, but I doubt it is in the USA. Most os the troubles have been bad electronic controls, and heating elements burning out(or the lead to the element). rough corners to cut hands or snag clothes, and hinges that are not secure or the fasteners are stripped out!

You would think for 3-4 bills you could get something that would last a couple years at least!:(

Last summer I was at a Garage sale and bought a Birnkman smokin pit profesional for $40.00. Its an older one that has the heavy gage steel. I liked it so much I sold my electric one to my neighbor. It was made by the sausage company.I used a lot for 15 years. put a new burner in it last year. He is using it 3 to 4 times a week. I love using the brinkman but you have to spend more time regulating the temperature and in the winter it is to cold to hang around the barn all day. I am thinking about getting another electric one for the winter use so while at cabalas the other day I looked at their selection I liked the masterbuilt but I am thinking about buying another one from the sausage company again for $299. I like the digital on the masterbuilt but the quality didnt seem as good. Going to have to make a decision soon.

well got my new controler for the smoker today. hooked it up and turned it on and a hour later no change in temp. reset it and ten minutes later i got the "death code"
moral of the story it's going back. would be a good smoker if it worked.

where did ya buy it?

Get a refund or store credit.
Not a fan of watt burners, so I can't help ya much except from the feedback I get from friends who insist on using them. I know c sootsman likes hi " Hi Mountain" brand electric. The really nice cookshacks are expensive but I hear good things about them.

Hope you get your money back.

I have had two of them and they work well, but have had electrical problems with both. I traded one off to a guy to repair the other one. They are made in China. Last I tried, parts were not availabe. Door hinges are extremely weak. I reaaly like the unit as far as quality of smoking, maintaining temp etc.

Looks like Bass Pro has the black 30" electric Masterbuilt Smokehouse on sale for $199.94 and they are offering a manufacturer's mail-in rebate of $30, so all told the sale price before tax is $169.94. :) For that price I may give them a chance. I am just getting into smoking and last season did all of mine on my gas grill and it worked fine and made some awesome food, but it is a "hot" smoke (can do a whole 5 # chicken in like 70 mins), and it is very labor intensive. I have been wanting a smoker for a few years now...

What do you all think of the unit for that price?

Got until April 5th on the rebate.
