73 smelt in 4hr not kocken em dead but did ok i set up in 65 fow {a little deep for me} but it was to cold and windy to do much moven.set up about 6.30pm last night back to the truck by 11.30pm.most of the fish bite was deeeep 50ft.markrd fish at 20 to 30 but would not bite .

4in of ice and she was maken ice all night... snap, crackle,pop .music to my ears.no quads or snow machines.

i belive i am going back tonight if this wind calms down or i will take 2 heaters,,,,,lol

Sloooooow was the word last night very slow.i have never seen crystle that slow and as for fish on the graph was almost nill.talked to a few other guys and it was the same thing slow for them also,fisherman6 hope you had better night.ended up with a grand total of.......3 well my cat will eat good.

was also verryy slow for us! slowest night i have ever seen also. not very much snow on the lake yet some places there was about 3in of slush.about 3in of good black ice!

Went to Crystal lake last night-1/23/09-and did OK pulled in 53 in about 3 hours cause I could not stand all the cracking :tdo12: that was going on and I was siting on 4" of ice and between me my dad and all the crap I figure it to be about 600 pounds PLUS the wind was crazy with speeds of 25+mph :dizzy:

I did find out a clue as to why some people said there was 7 to 8 inches of ice out off Lobb rd and others said there was only 4 to 5 inches and that is because by the smelt village there is way more ice but if you go only 100 yards away you will find only about 4 inches :xzicon_sm

O YEAH, ALSO IF YOU GO OUT OFF LOBB RD BE VERY VERY CARFUL WHERE YOU STEP CAUSE ON THE WAY STRAIT OUT ABOUT 150 YARDS THERE IS A HOLE ABOUT 10ft BY 7ft (BE SAFE) :help:

Anybody hitting any lakers yet? We'll be up there this weekend, but I'm a little worried that the ice will not be ready for laketrout. What do you all think?

I don't know about the whole lake but as I said Lobb rd had 4" and they are going to have a very cold week this week so I would say there will be a good 6 or 7 inches by next weekend off Lobb rd and that is in the half way point of the lake and out about 250 yards. :coolgleam

Saw many quads and sleds all around the lake this past weekend.

went out off lobb rd last night 1-25-09 .started about 6p.m in 50 fow nothing moved in to 45 fow about 7.30 p.m found a few.had a dozen by 8.30. i thought it was going to be another slow night. then crystal decided to give up smelt like she has many times before. bite was down at 40 ft and 35 most of the night did get some takers up at the 10 ft mark. ended up with 84 :fish:by 11.00 p.m. when i left.

as for sleds and quads i seen some out and about. all the ice i drilled was a least 6 to 8 in thick. all the snow was packed down so walking was pretty easy to get out to the spot.
