i have a stryfoam minnow bucket which I lent to a friend. He said he left some minnows in it which died. He said he clean the bucket out. Now my minnows die in the bucket. Don't know if it was clean out with soap or something else. Any suggestion on how to decontaminated the stryfoam.

Could have been anything. Myabe he didn't clean it at all, and amonia from the decayed minnows and stagnet water could be soaked into the styrofoam. Go to Dunham's or Walmart, etc. and buy a cheap 2 quart water cooler for $10. You won't have to worry about it leaking, it won't break and you can use the lid to scoop fresh water into it to keep the minnows alive.
Styrofoam, is a chemical, you have to be careful with it.

Get a new one for the $4 or whatever they are. Hint, the round foam buckets fit snugly in a 5 gallon pail. It keeps them from tipping over & keeps them from breaking.

I have seen many contaminated buckets kill minnows. Soap, bleach, will leech into the foam cells. I would go with a small cooler, works well for ice fish'n and warm water fish'n.

If I have my machine and Clam Voyager, that's what I use. I rigged my bucket with an aerator and fastened the air stone to the bottom. I used plumbing strap to make a holder for the aerator. Aerator really keeps the minnows on the active mode.
Today's battery operated aerators are so quiet. I used to have a Frabil, that was so loud I would shut if off, because of the noise.
When I go by foot and with my Clam Pro, I use the the coleman 2 quart. Less space consumer.
