did you do any good out there
There was a foot of slush on top of the ice once you got 20 yards off the launch. Couldnt pull the gear through it...turned around and tried a different lake. Unless you have a quad I would not bother.

I will second that. I was out there yesterday with my brother and we both got our feet wet. A lot of snow and then BAM, you were thru the crust and into the 3" or more of water on top of the over 10" of ice. Went to Heron lake at Holly rec area and it was the same way if you went out far enough. But to get out to that you had to pull your gear thru over 12" of snow.

We didn't have any luck on either lake. After the wet feet we did not travel that far back onto Heron. I heard that if you go to the left of the boat lunch at ctrotched until you hit the first little bay or go all the way to the point in the winter. But I don't know if that is true and to be honest I have never seen tracks down that far. Worth a shot.

I have never had much luck on Crotched in the winter, but I agree that most don't travel. The spot spoken about to the left of the launch is most likely your best choice, but it is a hike to get over to it and if the slush was that bad, I can see why you would give up.
I was surprised to hear about the slush problem. I fished Tipsico Sunday night and there was no slush whatsoever. About 8 inches of good clear ice and 6-8 inches of snow on top, but no slush. I guess we were really lucky. Fishing was busy, but only dinks. Great time to be out regardless, except for the stupid snow mobiles that decided to buzz our shanty and just miss going over the top of one of my tip ups. grrrr

hmmmmmm. I might have to check that out this weekend. when you say to the left of the launch, do you mean that first little bend on the west side (1) or past the point (2)? please say the bend. I'll make the walk to the point, but I'll be much happier if I don't have to!

Try the #1 spot first and if that does not produce than the walk begins to the point.

I'm going to try again, but I'm not expecting much. I just want to give up on it after one try
