I know guys have been on Maple, I got hurt pretty bad a couple years ago, real cold weather hurts my arm pretty bad, but yeah, not too much posting going on in SWMI. Everyone must be going out of town or staying in. Check my link in my signature, right below the Vexilar quote.

i was on maple last saturday because i didn't want to drive far on the bad roads. i kept 3 small ones & thru another hand full of smaller fish back. only kept those 3 because my great nephew was with us & was having a ball. only about 12 guys out then. ice 2" -5" thick.
private lake sunday, 10 nice gills, 14" if snow on the ice.
been to a few other lakes with a bit of luck, but nothing to brag about.
i think i'll stay home sat. think i'm getting the flu bug :(

the report from covey but I wouldnt hold alot of stock in it. Being i have been on most if not all the lakes mentioned, and those lakes will now have more guys than the rest. Just get a mapo and go try 2 or 3 lakes a day. You will find fish. The best report is finding a fresh hot bight on your own, and not having to deal with pressured fish, like the ones in renoylds channel with 35 guys fishing and 30 yard corner...

and nothing against Mr Covey, I wored with him for a few years and he is a great guy, he just tells what he hears though, and thats all.

I have been hearing the bite is off in SW Michigan. coulda fooled me . I have nailed a limit every time I go out. All my gill's have been between 8" and 11". I have been hitting everything in about 2' of water. Yes I said 2'. I know a lot of you guy's think I'm crazy, but I do this all winter long. The only time I venture out deeper is if I want to go play with my vex.

Can I go with you? You might be able to teach me something.

Yeah its all hear say, just thought I would add it to my signature though, some people dont mind fishing crowds. I dont even fish half of the lakes in his report but some people may want an "outside source".

Have fished Van Auken, Rush and Big Paw Paw. Van Auken producing the most. Big Paw Paw last four times out and not one fish. Would like to try Round. Any reports from Sister Lakes area?
