I have recently purched a cabin on Burt lake and was wondering where a good place to place a shanty for the winter ? I like to run tip up's with shiners and chubs for pike. Any info would help thanks.

Where is your cabin at? My parents live on the lake (Wauban Beach area). You can pm me if you dont want to put the location out there. Burt is a big lake so there are lots of areas to try.

I fish Burt about 4 days a week. alot of people do well in the north bay off hoppies, and alot do pretty well in the lower half down by the boat house. I personally stick to maple bay, farther out towards Colonial Point. its a good walk but i always seem to get some really nice jumbos and a few walleye mixed in. Lost a really nice brown out there 4 days ago right at the hole . usually in about 30 to 35 fow. thats just me though. you may have to try them for yourself, you may like the other areas better. good luck and see ya out there.

Do you take Eagles Nest rd to get to your place? We used to have a place down there.

When you go to get bait, go to Pat and Garys in Indian River. There is a map on the door of the bait cooler (its a walk in). If you have an ATV or snowmobile and you dont mind traveling the lake there are lots of spots shown on that map that will help you out. Lots of people fish Maple Bay, walleye alley ( which is at the south end of the lake), out by Hoppies bar at the north end, and the Wauban/Chippewa beach area. If you see a bearded guy working in Pat and Garys ask him, he should be able to give you a decent report.

I have never fished the hard water on Burt Lake but I LOVE HOPPY's! That's where I would go.....

after everything said and done. i don't think you can really wrong with any of the major spots. if the fish are biting you will catch them anywhere. it all depends on how far you want to travel out, for me. hoppys, south bay, colonial point, should all produce. good luck.
