Does anyone have any tips for a good area to fish for lakers on Higgins? I've done it once before, with no luck, but I want to try again this weekend. I'm planning to get out tonight to catch some bait (smelt) but I really don't know what depth I should target for the lakers.
I'm not looking for anyone to give up exact spots, I'm just looking for a lake depth I should maybe target for better results.
Thanks.

I usually fish the NW part of the lake. Starting at 85 feet and moving deeper. Anywhere you find a dropoff to over a hundred feet is a good place to start. I do think the early bird gets the trout on Higgins. Unless the fish are really on fire, most days the bite starts to slow down by 9:00am and then picks up before dark.
