I am down here for college and wanna do some ice fishing and I was wondering if there are any places fairly close to get into some good panfish. I know Lake Lansing is good for pike but havent heard of much about panfish. Any input is greatly appreciated.

I live in Haslett on Lake of the Hills, it is private and catch and release only and you have to be with a resident to be on the lake (someone called the cops on me the day after Christmas but all I had to do was show him my drivers license). The good thing is that all I catch are big gills with the occasionally perch, bass, and crappie thrown in for good measure. I am heading up north in the morning and won't be home until either Sunday or Monday, but if you want to come out for a morning next week I would be willing to take you out on the lake (even though you are a Spartan).

Maybe us Lansing area icefisherman need to have a meet and greet someplace. The more people on the ice the more fish you will catch(usually).

Well, we dont have that many lks to fish, ive lived in the area all my life and the only lake worth fishing is lk lansing and maybe a few private lks and gravel pits. Lk victoria is great for pan-fish but its private... ive done good on specks their and lk lansing. Would be nice if lk lansing had walleyes in it.....

My buddy caught one a few years back during a bass tournament. There are a few really good small lake's around Lansing. Try Rose lake, Or foxnole lake. I have caught some big gill's, and crappie out of both. There are also some monster pike in both. Lake Lansing has some big gill's, and crappies if you can find them. I don't live in the area anymore, but would love to get back to hit some of those lakes.
