I have been going to that lake for a couple years and recently have heard that there are perch in that lake too, besides crappie, bluegill and pike. Do you know about this?

It is a great lake to fish when conditions are good and if you have a quad or snowmobile.

Yes there is Perch in four mile but you have to find them. In the summer I have caught them to the far right in front of the trailers. There is not a lot of them but you can get a meal if you find them.

They are still open.....sometimes. Even when they are open it's a crap shoot on what bait they will have. Typically he will have waxies and spikes and ocasionally minnows but you never know.
Put it this way, I live 1 mile from Mill creek and I drive to Ricks in whitmore lake to get my bait.

The bait store i have been going to is a nice one it is called Columbo's if you are heading to four mile by goin thru stockbridge on m-52 Columbo's is literally 10 yrds off the road. they have all types of bait from waxies and spikes to minnows and golden shiners. Plus they have a semi decent supply of tackle another one is called the minnow bucket. It is off I-94 at the sargent road exit and their number is 1-517-764-1909. They are a really nice store too, they carry wiggler's also.

Good luck, and keep me posted.

IMO mill creek is unfreindly twords fisherman, I used to live in Ann Arbor and would buy my bait there and always got the cold sholder like I should not be icefishing. One guy told me that "we will not be selling minnows this year and thats that". I stopped going there, although; there was one nice older man that worked there it still was not worth it.

Columbos is a good place to go I second that.

yeah, that's the ann arbor area for you isn't it.

This morning I stopped by a pet store in ann arbor to buy some rosey red fathead minnows -- pet stores usually carry them because people use them to feed their aggressive aquarium fish. Anyhow, as soon as the lady finds out I'm planning on using them for fishing she starts giving me attitude....I mean, seriously -- what difference does it make if the minnow gets eaten by one of the crappies I'm trying to catch versus somebody's pet african cichlid, a dead minnow is a dead minnow

I agree with everyone with the whole bait issue. There's one out by Portage Lake in the Hardware store but i've never really been in there. You can get waxies up at Meijers in AnnArbor though

I just checked Rick's in Whitmore lake the other day and found that they had alot of icefishing gear.. they carry all the bait you need and they are open 7 days a week which is nice...I have not been to Mill Creek this year, but last year I was there a couple of times and the old guy was cool and they had minnows and a decent supply of tackle, but you can never tell if they will be open :( My buddy is a fan of Columbos as well, and also I believe the party store near green lake, off of m52.. vogels? sells waxies as well, but I am not 100% on that...

Knutsons in Brooklyn, if you get any place close to it. I told my wife that I would like to be buried there when I die. She suggested that we do it that day! Capnhook

Meijer's waxies are junk but they'll work in a pinch. I usually have to pick through the whole bunch to find a couple of decent containers.

Making my semi-annual (wish it were more) trip to Knutson's tomorrow and am pretty excited about it!

I kind of like Mill Creek. They've always been nice to me and have always had big, fat, healthy waxies; spikes (no colors); mousies, and perch minnows every time I've been there this year. They always seem to give me more minnows than I ask for the and the counter girl is pretty easy on the eyes. North Lake party store pretty much always has waxies and spikes too.
