Ok to start the pics are posted in my gallary as Simcoe january 2009, dont know how to attach them to the thread. Anyhow fished all day Saturday and a few hours today and between the two of us we caught well over 200 perch, ended up keeping 100 all together fish ranged form 9-13 inches, we also through just as many back that were that size. We rented are hut from a guy name peter out of Gilford which is on cooks bay he runs a pretty awsome website www.cooksbayfishingboard.com (http://www.cooksbayfishingboard.com), he does live daily fishing and ice reports all posted on his site. To sum in up pretty much non stop non dink action all weekend, it felt good to be throwing 8's and 9's back. Good luck to everyone, also me and the guy I went with are trying to get a group of guys together to go back and smack em again, this time we are taking are own shanty and the quad, now we know where to fish .

It's about a 4ish hour drive depends on weather. If you buy the full license you are only able to bring home 100 perch a 2day limit. Conservation license allows you 25 Perch a day and 50 over the border abot $45 license... Prices vary, the full Canadian license is $77 US dollars to start..

did they change the possession limits this year,,,and not print it ...I thought it was the same as a daily limit...Simcoe may be different ...seems like every area has different rules,,,I may have been misinterpreted the regs,,,I don't want to get hassled at the random check point again
NOTE: This section contains important information that anglers
must understand to make sure they follow the regulations.
Additional Fishing Opportunities – There are some waters where
regulations for certain species are more liberal than the Zone
regulations. These include areas where anglers may fish for a
species during part or all of the time when the season is generally
closed in the Zone and include extended seasons or open all year
seasons for some species. Often these additional opportunities
are provided through fish stocking.
Aggregate Limits – Aggregate limits are catch and possession
limits for a combination of fish species. Where there are
aggregate limits, you may not catch and retain a separate limit
of each species. In this Summary, limits stated for walleye and
sauger are aggregate limits as are limits for largemouth and
smallmouth bass and the limits for black and white crappie. The
aggregate limits for these species can be found in the Zonewide
tables or in the exceptions for each Zone. See also Catch
NOTE: In addition to the aggregate limit, you may not exceed
individual species limits where they are otherwise stated. (e.g.,
Angling – Angling means fishing with a line to which one to four
hooks are attached and that is held in the hand or closely attended.
Artificial Lure – An artificial lure means a spoon, plug, jig,
artificial fly or other such device that is designed to catch fish
by means of angling.
Catch and Possession Limits – The catch limit is the number of
fish you are allowed to catch and keep in one day and includes
fish that are retained for any period of time and any fish eaten or
given away. The possession limit is the number you are allowed
to have in your possession on hand, in cold storage, in transit,
or anywhere. Possession limits are the same as one day’s catch
limit except where otherwise specified.

if it makes a difference, the canadian license is $70 U.S dollars, bought one Sunday morning from Dennis @ Bass Haven, that includes the $9 sportsman card (BS). Did not bring the quad, that won't happen again, just wanted to make sure ice is good, after this week, it will be. fished out from bass haven, caught 3 8" perch. talked to guys out @ Mitchells Bay, they caught the same as myself.

Cool pics! Nice looking fish! :fish:
Could anyone reccomend a place to stay or/and places to rent a hut and all that good stuff? I have never been before and would like to try it. I have been looking up stuff on the web, but there are so many places to rent huts. As far as a place to stay I would assume just any near by hotel?? :help:
Thanks for any tips

I reccomend a guy by the name of Peter his huts are on cooks bay off of Gilford road, thats where I rent my hut from, he has the overnight hut if your interested in staying on the ice overnight. If you have your own shanty I would also reccomend taking it and just accessing cooks bay out of Gilford, Peter has a bait shack on the ice and will point you in the direction of the perch or you can just fish by the operators huts. The website is www.cooksbayfishingboard.com (http://www.cooksbayfishingboard.com)

I would say no more then a mile, they also run a shuttle service. I would go to the site i told you about you can post on there just like here for any information about shuttle services and the exact walking distance. I have seen it before when you go out about 500ft and catch fish.

Nice catch!!!
I have fished Lake Simcoe a few times and have stayed over near Jackson Point. Fished Virginia beach and Sibbalds. Also out of Keswick a couple times. But if fishing the Gilford Side, it wouldnt make much sense to stay in Jackson Point. Anyone have any recommendations on a place to stay in Gilford? Thanks in advance. I may head up this weekend, anyone else going?

we stayed at cooks bay marina couple years ago. nice place on the water and safe for sleds quads ect. there are a couple hut operators locally. peters huts and terry goy, both are o.k. go to the message boards and there is a ton of info. it's pretty diffecult to go to simcoe and not find fish.

No fees to bring your ATV to canada. Just need insurance on it.
