Is the ice good enough for a 4 wheeler yet? I have a Clam 5600 w/no sled and that thing is a tank to drag by foot. I'm interested in Gino's, Cotton, and SANG. Can you still get on the ice at Gino's w/ an ATV? I'm dieing to get out there but I'd like to fish in my shanty.

Just my personal opinion, myself and four others that were with me today did NOTHING at Cotton Rd. Can't speak for everyone out there but visibility was terrible maybe 2ft. in 6.5ft. of water. Quads were out there though, about 8" of ice. Oh yeah, good luck parking at the little access there, it was full at 6:45am today. Needs some time there I think. Good Luck!

:coolgleam My brother had his Arctic Cat 400 on the ice at SANG on Thursday. The ice was about 7-8 inches a little south(and about 350 yards from shore) of the launch, and about 6 inches another 150 yards out into the lake from there. It should have added close to another inch, since then. After the real cold temps hit, this coming week, the ice should be close to 10 inches by next weekend (provided the cold can penetrate the snow). I've heard there's been several "gas pockets" by the barracks area, and there's usually a few by Cotton Rd.'s weedbeds, so be careful. :fish:

How far were they going out? I figured I would have to wait until next week after the big freeze.

I'd wager that the ice at Gino's is fine,, the hiccup is launching outta there.
The mud lot is fenced off and there's really only one, maybe 2 spots to get on the ice (besides tumbling down the rocks), and you have to walk across the grass for a bit. I'm not sure how hip the Gino's people would feel about potentially rippin' up the grass,, on top of that, smashin' up the shore ice right there for the walkers...:( I think I'll wait until next week and launch outta Crocker,, or Metro.

I found 3-4" at cotton early this week. I would wait in that area til next weekend! Regardless if others were out today!
