Okay here's one to start this thread off. You may remember me from going through the ice twice in four days last year. I swear some of the stuff I do would take a comedic genius like Charlie Chapman 20 takes to get right. Last week Friday and Saturday I took 45 keepers (threw probably twice that back). I froze 25 between snow in a bucket. The second day I brought 20 home and dumped all of them in the sink after getting as much snow as I could out of the bucket. I figured I would put a tiny bit of water in the sink and stir it around to melt the snow and then let the frozen fish thaw and the fresh ones finish dying mostly. My utility sink downstairs has been running hot water full blast and cold water just a trickle lately. So I figured that I would turn it off before the water even got hot. I turn the sink on (full blast) and hear a clink. The handle fell (I thought) into the sink. I rummage around frantically through the fish trying to find it and am unable to locate it. Meanwhile the water starts to get really hot. The live fish are shooting through the sink, nailing me with their dorsals. I finally run outside to get my pliers from the garage (in my socks through the snow) and come down and turn the sink off. There is five or six inches of very hot water in the sink by this time. I start cutting fillets off and notice that about ten of them are a bit white colored... I smell them and there is no smell at all.... no fresh fish smell. Yep you were right ... they were partially cooked. By the way the handle had fallen under the sponge up top.:bloos:
My dad always says ... when in doubt throw it out... when it comes to food and I do have several bags in the freezer. So I make the bleak decision to toss 90 fillets in with the triple bagged guts.... sigh.
It was fun catching them but... (wipes away a tear).
What's that french saying?

I was open water fishing in the St. Clair River with my brother....He ended up slamming my rod tip in the trunk and broke it. I was peeved and gave him a verbal lesson on being careful.
We get home and I took my other rod out..didn't realize the top half was not in my hand. I closed the trunk and broke it....2 rods ruined in 45 minutes...

I was at Gino's about a week ago and threw on my spikes up on the grass to walk down the ramp, it looked pretty slick. My brother(rookie:lol:) had just picked up a pair of cleates @ Jimmy's, and I told him he ought to throw them on. He said, 'I'll put them on once I get on the ice'...I said 'OKKKKKKK'. He didn't see the guy getting up off the ice/ramp....and down my brother went. I laughed and then proceeded to watch the next four guys do the same thing, WAHEEEEEEEEEE!

Long time lurker, new member, new poster.
Muskie fishing this fall casting around Metro in October. The weather was supposed to be mid 30's with strong wind. I'm dressed in some heavy thermal sweat pants, a hoodie with a wind breaker and a knit hat. The actual weather was 62, flat calm. Soon I'm wearing a t -shirt with my pant legs rolled up and still burning up. I finish up a cast and take my glasses off to wipe my face off with a rag. I guess I thought the glasses were my lure and I let go of them. Of course they fell right into the water. The worse part was driving the boat back into the DNR launch off Crocker. Distances without glasses or contacts is horrible for me. All in all I got back ok. Still amazed at how I could drop my glasses in the water.

About 3 years ago I noticed an article on making a power auger out of a 18 volt drill and your existing hand auger. As my shoulder is giving me more trouble I thought this could be the ticket. In the instructions it mentions making a disc to prevent the auger from falling in if the drill arbor comes loose. Well I thought that was optional. It was not. This thing was working so good I was drilling holes just to drill holes. about the 10th one right as it breaks thru the hole auger comes off and drops to the bottom. I went back in the summer with a magnet to see if I could find it-no dice. I have since purchased an adapter that prevents this from happening again. Along with a new 5" Lazer!

I once went out steely fishin on the west side. Drove an hour to my spot, I get to my fishin spot and put my rod together. Well, I manged to grab the bottom half of my 9' noodle and the top half of my 10'6". Needless to say my trip was over. Also went out brest bay one day in the summer. When I was leaving I set my fully loaded tackle box on the rocks while I loaded up the car. Got home(45 min drive) and had no tackle box, I almost puked. So I flew back out to brest bay and unbeleivably my box was still on the rocks. Man I can be a real idiot sometimes.

My dad and i were ice fishing when I was a teenager...my dad is very meticulous. We bought a brand new spud....which was something because we had the same one forever...he went to chop an existing hole..not realizing there was no ice in it...he threw the spud in the hole and down it went to the bottom...it was funny as hell!!

1)one time pike spearing..the lens of my glasses fell out and went to the bottom at Metro Beach backwaters
2) Another time I broke my Browning rod on a salmon..I still landed the salmon when it jump 2 feet onto the shore at Port Sanilac
3) I lost the tip to my Orvis fly rod walking through the brush at Proud Lake Rec Area
4)The best follie was at Houghton Lake...I put a rod out at nite off the dock with a dogfish minnow...I walk out the next morning and all the line was off the reel except for one turn..(thank God I tied a strong knot on the spool).
Well my brother in law was going to go fishing with me. He never fishes. This is his one time. I told him we were going to motor to where the fish was. I had a good 200 yards of line on my reel. I get to the fish and it is huge!!
I fight it for 2 and half hours.. It is towing the 16 foot boat around the North bay..my brother inlaw is whining and telling me to snap the line. He says he wants to fish. I start horsing the fish and the line snaps. I said ok we can fish now...my brother in law says he is bored and wants to go back and sleep. I almost killed him...

My late brother was fishing off the dock at a Houghton lake resort when I was a teenager. We used treble hooks loaded with nightcrawlers. He doesn't see me and swings the rod back to cast. It goes into my mouth and gets hooked. I grabbed the line with both hands and luckily he doesn't cast. The hook came out easily and I kept my throat closed and mouth open until I ran to the cabin to wash my mouth out. I wasn't even swearing at the time!
