Does anyone know if they are going to allow parking this year? I went down there a couple times last year and they had the gates closed..

They are getting tired of having to deal with the mess it makes once it starts to thaw and the vehicles driving in the soft spots and tearing it up. Maybe you can call and see i think the number is 734-289-1234

I tried the to call this afternoon and was unable to reach anyone today. Do you know of anywhere else to park? Or is going to be just another local only place?

Can't blame Phil for putting a stop to the parking at the marina....90% of the people that parked there did'nt even bother to buy thier bait from them.Come spring they'd have to go around and fix all the ruts and pick up the trash left by others....

Couldn't agree more. Or when you're supposed to get a daily tag for parking and people would skate on that.

:confused:I normally fish Anchor Bay by Selfridge ANG Base but it's getting to be too much of a drive. I know Brest Bay is very shallow. How far out do you have to go to get to the fish? I don't have a machine to pull my pop-up. Is it just good for Walleye or can I pick up perch and other panfish?

Dont just walk straight out. hug the shoreline till you get closer to the point. There is some real thin ice under that 10 inches of snow if you walk straight out from the marina.. Oh yeah and its starting to drift real bad. Went out tonight and the ice i was on was only 4 inches tops. The snow is not a good thing. Wee need about a half inch of rain to slush it up so it can freeze

From the looks of radar ( http://coastwatch.glerl.noaa.gov/modis/modis.cgi/modis?region=e&page=1&template=sub&image=t1.09016.1535.LakeErie.143.250m.jpg)
it is worse today than it was yesterday. Looks like a lot of breakup has occured with the winds. I haven't seen or been on it but it doesn't look promising at this point.

As of yet...I took a ride into Phil's today. He has a mail slot on the Marina Store door; parking is $5.00 on the honor system, please pay if you're going to park there.

Just got back in... No luck this morning. Saw a couple of quads and a couple of sleds out there. I dont know if they came off the point or from the marina. We walked in from the point. 5in of ice where we drilled..
Good luck and be safe..
