i recently purchased a fake decoy from bear creek. i wondered if anyone has luck with those. its a nine inch sucker with reflective tape on the sides. i seem to not have the luck i did before with live decoys. i also had a small pike down the hole a gave it a jiggle and it shot off. let me know!!!!!!!!

Get yourself a jigging rod and spoons, and tip the spoon with a minnow, some of our best luck at attracting pike has come off jigging with a spoon. I actually like using a salmon spoon, like the silverstreaks. There lightweight makes them flutter and give it a real erratic action. Give that a try if the other stuff isn't working.

the other thing to keep in mind is the color. I have had years where 1 or 2 colors were really good, and others brought nothing in. The next year, different colors. I would recommend that if you are going to try an artificial decoy, to bring a couple of different colors/styles with you. Just like any other fishing, when one isn't working...switch it up. I know alot of guys that prefer a fake decoy.

I've used bear creek decoys for years and always had northerns come in and slam em! They have worked for me. Sometimes if the fake suckers are not working i'll get a huge live sucker connected to a safety pin. Good luck!

looks like I found a fellow salmon fisherman. Right now I'm using a blue dolphin, in the standard size, but I've never been color specific for pike, just anything that'll give a little bit of flash. :)

Funny you guys brought this up. I was just telling a buddy the other day that I had done well bringing pike in on a Mag DW lemon ice and Mag DW green glow, both lots of flash. He didn't believe me. The only problem I had was if I was jigging it hard, sometimes it would tangle the hooks on the line.

Go with a Wooden Decoy they fly so much better than the plastic ones and the hot color is white with a simple slash of red on the head. If you don't have the money to buy one than try making one, HERE IS A SITE THAT SHOWS YOU HOW TO MAKE YOUR OWN: midarkhouse.org
