I fished wamplers this evening. Ice was 8". Fishing was slow. Caught a couple small perch, a small gill, and small crappie. I saw a nice pike but it would not hit. I was out in front of the beach.

My girlfriend and I were out at wamplers today too. We have a wooden spearing shanty north of the beach on the east side of the lake. Pike have been great but the pan fishing is slow. The big gills just wont bite. Let me know how your doing.

I set up my portable straight out from thr beach area in about 14-16 ft of water w/ decent weeds Sunday. ended up Spearing one right before dark.

I may be back out there this weekend

I plan on hitting this lake sometime this winter. I fished the big bass tournament out there this summer and man, that lakes gets a lot of pressure. Is it the same in the winter as it is in the summer?

Not asking to give up favorite spots, but where is a good general area to fish for panfish on Wamplers? Does anyone fish the hole in the weedbed in front of the beach? It is about 15' deep in the center of a 5' weed flat? Is that spot any good during winter?

wamplers is wierd. ive fished it my whole life. either your on them or your not. best time is always last ice. always used to fish somewhat out from jerrys pub. good weed bed on the edge of a flat. goes from 6 to 15 pretty fast. didnt know about that hole but it sounds promising. lots of huge gills and redears down the hole but they come to the jig and just turn around. THATS WAMPLERS! let me know more about this "hole"!

also wamplers doesnt get the pressure it used to. it used to a few years ago but not like in the summer. it just seems like for that big of a lake people just fishin in like 3 spots on the whole lake. the only presssure it gets now is when knutsons does there tournament out there and brings in those icefishing teams with all the bells and whistles! kind of annoying for like a week but thats it!

went out on wamplers today. girlfriend put down a tipup and before she turned around the flag went. she pulled in a 28 in pike. kinda slow till dark and then a feeding frenzy in my spear hole. they attacked my chub and i could never put a spear on them it was so fast. about 4 differant pike in about 15 minutes! finally speared a nice one and fell off the spear at the hole! kinda frustrating! but ill try it again tomorrow. as for gills just small ones.
