Manistique Lakes

I'm considering a day-trip to either South or Big Manistique Lake this weekend. Have fished both in the summer, but never through the ice. Any information regarding access points would be appreciated.

Any fishing reports as of lately?

you can access south manistique out of wolfe bay? i think its called... or on the other side of the lake out of some park? is that what you are looking for? stop in at one of the bait shops... they are both nice places and always helpful... they will have a map with access points

For the south lake there are 4 access points. There is one right in town right behind JR's bait shop on the northwest side of the lake. Also one in wolfe bay on the north side of the bay. Then theres one on the southeast corner right in front of norton island. I've never used the fourth one but I believe its on the west side of the lake near sherman's point where the campground is.

Thanks HunterHawk and FISH21. I didn't know if all those accesses were kept plowed out during the winter or not.

Any word on whether or not the walleye are still hitting?

i havent heard any reports lately since Fish21's but it would be worth trying im sure!! I love fishing that lake... might not always catch Monsters like Fish21... but you still catch some fish!
