Fished a new lake from 1 to 5 this afternoon and searched for the schooling fish but couldnt find them, so I punched some more holes in 14 to 18 ft of water on the weed beds and caught these fish. My first perch of the year and my biggest gill of the year.

limit of specs and couple gills. reeds lake had a lot of guys out there for a thursday. none of these are going to be called big, but man they are going to be good eaters. thanks to Jay who caught 10 of these. we were out there for 2 hours, spent almost a 1/2 hr locating fish and then we slammed the specs.

Is there anyone that is good at catching perch and walleye. I went perch fishing 3 times last year at White Lake and caught tons of perch and me and my son had a great time and it was a fun experience but the perch were only 8 to 11 inches. Most of the perch were 8-9 inches. I need someone to bring me out and show me the ropes. I have ALL the equiptment for perch and walleye. Now I need to learn how to use it. Any and all help is appreciated. I will drive to the UP if I have to, or if anyone is going on a trip to Wisconsin or Minnesota I am game to go and catch some perch and walleye and learn as much as I can. Thanks

I still have not heard from anyone about going walleye fishing. I hope someone reads this and invites me out to catch some walleye. We can swap trips I can take someone out and catch a bunch of gills and specs, and we can go and catch some walleye.

I caught this 28 inch 4 1/2 to 5 pound pike on my 24 inch ultra light st croix with 2lb stren microfuse ice line. It is the biggest fish i have caught with a ice rod. It was awesome.

If you want jumbo and quantity perch then Simcoe is your answer. As to the walleye Saginaw Bay is your best bet. Mid- Feb. on is your best bet for a wall hanger. Alot of eaters now till then. Brian

It was - 17 degrees but i got a limit. Here is a pic of some of the fish. Got 1 12 inch spec 2 9 inch gills and a bunch of 7 and 8 inchers. Took the shanty and lantern and stayed warm. I hole hoped with the shanty.

Mind me asking were you've been having luck? I've been having a heck of a time finding anything but dinks, caught one nice gill worth keeping the last 3 times out. You'd think I won the lottery, but I was sure proud of that one fish laying on the ice :D.

God blessed me so much! Had a great year catching fish and making new friends. My family loves eating fish! Thaught I would bump this thead up so we can all look at the pics and get excited for the upcoming year of ice fishing. Good hunting to all! I hope everyone gets the deer they want, wether it is a trophy deer or meat for the freezer. After deer season comes hard water and the rush of catching fish through the ice.
