Looks like I maybe fishing White Lake this weekend with a group of friends. I think we are fishing this lake out of shear convenience, as it is relatively close to everyone. The only down side to it is, that none of us have ever really fished it. I am looking for any information you guys would volunteer to narrow down our search for fish.
Thanks

I live close and fish it mostly in the summer. Most of the ice actions seems to be on the north end of the lake off Jackson blvd.,west of the White Lake Inn(which is great for a burger and brew) about a half mile via the road. I think you can park across from the little party store.

That is good news, cause we are planning on fishing and then I'm sure the others will make their happy butts into WLI for some brews and food. I'll probably come prepared so I can spend more time fishing.

You should invest in a lake map book for Southeast Michigan made by sportmans collection. They sell them at Gander Mountain. They are very helpful when trying out a new lake. It will tell you common hotspots, give you the contours, tell you where to find the launch and even give you some info on where to the fishing report for that lake (most Likely KD Outdoors for an Oakland County lake). I have heard that lake is good for Walleye, but it is pretty shallow thoughout most of the lake. Good luck!

Ya, I already own that book. And while it will be of help a little first hand knowledge from someone who has spent some time on this body of water would help too.

JW, One of the more popular spots to fish WL is over in the NW bay off of Jackson Blvd, right were it changes from dirt to pavement, There's a party store, "The Little Store" right near there. Another popular spot if on the west side off of the DNR boat ramp, right next to Mitchell's Bait & Boat Livery. ;)

I have family on White Lake and grew up fishing it. The north end is always popular. Another good spot within walking distance is out from the boat launch on Duck Lake Rd. Go all the way out to the island and hang a left. There is a point straight north to deeper weedy water. The west side of the island is shallower and the east side is deeper. I dont know if this helps though. Look at your map, that might give you a better idea of what I am talking about.

Don't worry Bucky, we'll find the fish. I just don't want to drag the shanty around the whole lake... See you there! Let me know what time to be at your house.:fish:

By the way, I think I will be out there Saturday myself some time. If you are at the boat launch and go straight across the lake is where I will be at.

There will definitely be a small group of us fishing not too far from WLI. I'll probably try and fish most of the day, I think the others are going to pack up and go watch playoffs around 4pm or so. Stop by say Hi.

HP, maybe meet there, I know you can take 96 to 59, it maybe shorter. Either way, I'm interested in fishing early.

You guys may want to bring a power auger with ya.
Wed. afternoon I measured a solid 11" by the party store.
Good-Luck...Mark

Auger is all set, I don't drill by hand, don't have a hand auger. I know when it's only a couple of inches it's overkill, but not gonna buy a hand cranker...

good afternoon fellow sportsman,
I live on white lake in the south est corner. While i fish a great deal in the summer i do very little ice fishing. In fact it has been ten years since i last went ice fishing. I do not even have equipment. I would probably go if i knew someone who knew my lake. any interested parties let me know.
sincerely

Well I will most definitely be going back to this lake. We went over by the party store on the nw side of the lake. Punched a few holes and found fish in 7-8fow. Sat down and caught 20 in no time, 5 nice keepers, a few crappie coming thru too. We caught a load, Holepounder sat right next to me and surely iced more than I did on his pink panties tear drop, seems to be the hot lure this year. Didn't have great action all day, which leads me to believe that we should have started a bit earlier as they were very agressive when we first setup. But we were on fish for most of the day, a lot of little ones. Some bullheads or dogfish threw the holes also. Saw an albino catfish or bullhead. It looked similar to a rotting salmon in the river. couldn't get him to go, that would be a sweet picture. Ice was plenty thick, machines tearing around all over. May try by WLI another time.

Fished the south east side in my uncles bay. NOTHING! Fished everywhere from 5 to 20 feet of water. Minnows, wax worms and a couple tip ups. I have never been skunked out there but I guess there is a first time for everything.

My BIL & I wnet on 1/24, started looking for fish @ 6:30am, found em after 4 holes. Couple here and there, teardrop with waxies in 8 fow. Seemed to disappear, we made our way into 15 fow, marked a lot of fish suspended 6feet all the way to the bottom. Wasn't red hot action by any means, but there were fish just about everywhere. This is only my 2nd time out there, and I have a sneaky suspision, that there are nice fish in that lake, but it's just a matter of finding them. We had a lot of dinks yesterday. Ice was, well real thick. Ended the day at WLI with a burger and brew. Will try this lake yet again.
