got a offer to fish watkins lake,can anyone give me a heads up on the lake,such as whats the main fishing target,gills,crappie,?not interested in any pike spearing,like the table fare,sweet meat.any information would be appreciated,thanks in advance

don't no whats in the lake. but I'm sure that's there is plenty of pan fish.... but you are missing out on some good table fair when you toss northern back that are of size this time of year!!!!!!
yes if you don't know how to clean them thy are a pain, but when its cold water they are some of the best tasting fish around.... the sweet meat will always be there....

Got a friend who lives on the lake. Fished there in the summer/fall. Lots of gills and some perch. Good bass and pike numbers. Lots of deep water on the North? end of the lake. The residents control the lake levels so I don't know how that affects the "safety" of the ice. Then again after this latest blast it should not be an issue....
