Wondering if anyone has tried using gulp baits through the Ice, I know when fishn slows down in the spring and summer gulp baits seem to catch more fish than live baits, always have had good luck with em. Was thinkn about given em a try since it seems I cant catch more than 2 perch for every 100 holes drilled.

We pretty much use Gulp bait exclusively. The pink waxies and magggots produce the best (for us any ways) and the green waxies work well too. We used the Gulp glow maggots this weekend and did pretty well (5 crappies and about 40 gills). Some of us were using live baits(mousies, spikes, euro larvae, minnows, and waxies) and the Gulp outfished all of them combined. Sometimes breaking a maggot in half is all you need. Hope this helps.
How many fish are you guys getting per gulp bait?

I just experimented with the pink maggots this weekend. For me, the Gulp baits got hit fast by the aggressive gills but when the bite slowed, the real wax worms got more bites from the finicky fish. I started alternating by fishing with waxies for five or six fish, then would send down the Gulp bait to pick up two or three agressive fish, then switch back to waxies again. It seemed that the real bait got the fish feeding and agressively competing, then the bright pink and size of the Gulp maggot triggered the bigger gills into charging in. I noticed that when I just kept sending down the Gulp maggots, the bite slowed quickly after two or three fish.

In my limited experience gulp seems to catch bigger wish and live bait catches more but smaller fish.

I used some GULP waxworms today and did catch some. I also took one and split it down the middle to look more like a spike (they were hitting spikes better) It worked.

Use them all the time. Red Spikes work GREAT on the gills and the perch

Gutz-- One guy was using a tungsten jig (you know one from Fiskas/yourbobbersdown.com) with 1/2 a Gulp maggot. He was slamming them. We were on Lake Columbia in Irish Hills fishing about 7 foot of water. Ice was 8-10" thick.

Sorry about that 1/2 piece would last 8-10 fish. But he was using a Vex and timing the bite just right. Ryan

Thanks for the info. I didn't write my question very well. How many fish can you catch on one before it gets ruined and and you have to put on another?
