Subject: Ammunition Accountability Act
Ammunition Accountability Act
Remember how Obama said that he wasn't going to take your guns? Well, it seems that his minions and allies in the anti-gun world have no problem with taking your ammo!
The bill that is being pushed in 18 states (including TN, Illinois and Indiana ) requires all ammunition to be encoded by the manufacture, a data base of all ammunition sales. So they will know how much you buy and what calibers. Nobody can sell any ammunition after June 30, 2009 unless the ammunition is coded.
Any privately held uncoded ammunition must be destroyed by July 1, 2011. (Including handloaded ammo.) They will also charge a .05 cent tax on every round so every box of ammo you buy will go up at least $2.50 or more! If they can deprive you of ammo they do not need to take your gun!
Please give this the widest distribution possible and contact your Reps!
It's the ammo, not the guns....
I've said for a long time that they wouldn't go for your guns, they'd go for your ammo... guns have a Constitutional protection. Ammo does not. A list of states where this legislation is pending is in the final paragraph. Not in CO yet, they'll go where the pansies are first.
Heads up to all of you who swore to defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign AND domestic. Let your state Legislatures know that we do not want this bill passed, and petition them to vote no on this bill. We should keep after them until the bill is closed by bombarding them with e-mails, phone calls, and letters.
Get to all your politicians to get to work and NOT LET THIS HAPPEN!!! The 2008 Legislative session has begun, and the Ammunition Accountability Act is being introduced across the country. Below is a list of states where legislation has already been introduced:
Alabama, Arizona, California, Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, Mississippi, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Washington.

There's an ongoing thread right here: http://www.michigan-sportsman.com/forum/showthread.php?t=268567 but I doubt that something of this nature could ever be posted too many times.

You are insinuating that you will not be able to handload ammo after that date. Come on, you don't really believe that do you?

I bet when they threw the tea in the harbor they didn't believe I would be forced to pay just short of 1/2 of my income in taxes but it is a reality. The government rules in favor of who they think will provide the most votes come election time, not whats ethical, fair, or constitutional.

I am no insinuating anything I posted it as the bill is written. I would love to say that I made all this up and yes it would be a horrible joke but fact the matter is that I didn't the lovely politicians that we have in Washington seem to think that messing with our ammo will stop gun crime. I hope some of them realize its not the onnest, paying citizens who are committing these crimes. Its the dirt ball scum bags of this nation who think it is OK to kill people. All I can say is make sure you call or email your senator and Congressman to let them know your view on this bill so that when it does get to Michigan they will vote it down. Because if it passes these few trial states will get to Michigan, lets not let this happen like the dove bill. In case you some of you forgot we don't have a dove season, it was taken from us by those scum bag antis.

Good point. Sometimes it's easy to forget that there are people who disagree, dislike, and even hate us, while I am sitting peacefully in my blind, enjoying life and nature. I will do more looking into this, and keep my comments to myself. If a politician wants to take away part of what I enjoy most, you better believe I'll raise a stink.

Gentlemen we are in a new era on many fronts and that includes our NEED to protect our 2nd ammendment rights. I don't mean to insult any democrats but we now have an extremely anti-gun/ammunition government for the next 4 years(the gruesome facts don't lie). The loudest voices will be heard and don't ever think that "that can never happen". Join the NRA, get involved with your legislators, join SCI, whatever. JUST DO SOMETHING to get your voice heard. And before we all read the responses, anything you say on here to defend the fact that your not doing something is just a lame excuse that we've all heard before.

...suggests that even handloadable bullets would have to be tracable also.
How crazy can it get? The enviro wackos also want the EPA to charge farmers a $175 tax per farm animal for green house gas emissions....farts!
welcome to the far left insane assylum!

Well since it is showing up that gun rights are protected and we can own them. So the simpler thing to do is get rid of or make the amunition so expensive nobody can own it or afford it.
So own all the guns you want but use them as bats!

Hang on now, I actually just read the act supplied in the link. I am not sure what the big deal is. They are looking for a way to connect the evidence to the killer. I don't see how it is possible to draw the conclusion that they are taking the ammo away. That is not even close to the intent. The price increase also is minimal. What am I missing here?

What am I missing here? This is what you're missing. Every responsible gun owner will now have to pay for an increase in price as a result of tthis act. And the evidence you hope to find from a killer will belong to the guy that it was stolen from. Criminals don't usually buy their guns and ammo at the local gun dealer. Nor will they use a bullet that can be traced back to them.;)

this is what happens when we even let them entertain the thought that they can get away with this bs.

And if ANYONE on here voted for Obama, I don't want to hear one complaint!!
You get what you deserve for voting in a Liberal Democrat.

The cost is on every round in a box of ammo, price will go up about $2.00 a box plus tax because you uncles sam will get his share. Also you know that the ammo manufacturers will not just make certain bullets for certain states and visa verse. So hence those states you won't be able to buy ammo. Hence taking away ammo from law abiding citizens and will no ammo no guns. They can't take are guns away because the 2nd amendment but the constitution says nothing about ammo. I would think a well armed militia would be guns and ammo but these people who write these bills are idiots.
I didn't vote for Obama so you can't blame me for this stupidity.

The issue is that they are once again imposing new rules and regulations that will do NOTHING to reduce crime. These measures only further limit a gun owners ability until such a time that there are either no bullets, or no guns and what scares me the most is all the idiots out there, amongst us, who will think this is all just black helicopter talk and shrug it off as a bunch of gun nuts spewing their hate and paranoia.

Governments are chiefed by the double tongues. The laws are not for the benefit of you and I but for the survival of those that rule. Disarming those that can rise up against the chiefs is vital to their survival. All governments eventually become self serving and thats a fact called history.

I'm not sure this is technically feasable. But assuming it is and they could get enough votes to make it law, it would further bring the economy down and do nothing to slow down crime. The Brady bunch and other antis only hope to set a precedent and make gun ownership increasingly difficult. The only way to stop this nonsense is for all gun owners to stand together for once and vote every bird out of office that backs this junk.
