Yesterday while fishing i lost one of the flexible rods for the dome roof on my clam 2000, I ordered a new one today when I realized it was missing from clam but need the shanty for tomorrow because were suppose to get a decent amount of rain/sleet. Has anyone ever used a temporary fix for an issue like this or does anyone have any ideas? The shanty isnt stable without the second pole and we are suppose to have winds around 20mph tomorrow.
I tried using the poles from my tent but they are too thick and too long, I have a thin metal threaded rod I tried but its too heavy for the shanty to hold and falls out after a minute or two.
Thanks guys.

based on the forecast, you may want to focus on whether you have all the pieces for your boat if you are going out tomorrow :)

i'm not sure what the pole would look like, but maybe an extendable shower curtain rod?

I have a clam 2000 so I know what youre talking about... here's a couple ideas..
1. if you have an old fishing rod that you can cut the handle off that will certainly have enough flex to it. the tip end might be too whippy though.
2. a curtain rod would work if you can find a small enough diameter.
3. alternately a piece of wood directly from one corner to the other,
without any bend in it would keep the shanty up but have a very
low head clearance.

I figured out a temporary solution until my new rod arrives, I placed a 1/2" pvc pipe the same legnth as the remaining rod in place of the missing rod. The pvc alone is a little less sturdy than the original but by adding the second original pole it becomes just as sturdy as it originally was. While I was picking up the pvc I picked up some rope weighted for 110lbs along with some angle iron with pre drilled holes and made an anchoring system for my shanty, seems very sturdy in my basement but tomorrow will be the real test. The entire setup including the fix cost me less than 10 bucks.

GM sells universal replacement rods for tents. You could make one of them work.

I checked they either had none in stock or the one in Taylor doesnt sell them.:(
