:help: Have 8" eskimo auger hand auger that keeps walking sideways when triying to drill holes. Blades feel sharp. First time the auger has been used. any input would be helpful, to way it does this or is it the blade.

my guess is that the cutting edge of the blade is not touching the ice.
the "heel" (blade relief) of the blade is touching first, or maybe it's just iced up & the ice on the relief is hittting.
maybe try shimming the front of the blade (a bunch)
did you bang it on the ice & bend it?
maybe the blades are on wrong? backwards or upside down?
iv'e said before on here that the pitch on mora augers are not great enough. i spent a couple hours at work one night fixing mine:mad:
close up pic of the blades would really help
