Just picked up a brand new northstar for $20.00 at target in Okemos, just thought I would share the wealth.

Is it the dual fuel lantern or the propane?

I picked up one too. Great deal. I also got a water proof hard case from cabelas bargan cave that fits the lantern, my heater, and two fuel cylenders. All for under $40 bucks.

Don't go to the Target in Portage, Mi. I bought the last three northstars and a dual mantle and bought the last two packages of northstar mantles.

The Target in Kentwood/Grand Rapids has about 10 of them. $20.99.

I know this is a bit off subject but does anyone know a "secret" way of keeping a mantle from falling apart every time I use it? My huge fingers dont tie those mantles on very patiently. TY.

You want to tie it onto the lantern and then light it and let it burn down. They are extremely fragile if you try to burn them before tying them. I think that is what you meant anyway......

Just a heads up, after reading this I headed to the Target in Allen Park and picked 1 up for myself. They had 6 or 8 more on the shelf for anyone who is interested.

They had 3 left at the store in Ypsi, and great deals on mantels. Capnhook

I think this board may have found a new potential sponsor. Someone should show this thread to the Target collars.

I have been to the target stores in woodhaven and in taylor, behind southland mall. Both had them, but they where only marked down to $29.00 .I asked about the price they said each store was diff. with there clearance items.

I just picked one up at the alpine location. Duel mantle were $21, single northstar system, $29. I went with the Duel mantle, only reason was it says the duel will run for 8 hours on high on a single tank, the single goes 5.5 hours on high on a single tank.

I have a white gas single mantle north star system lantern and really like it, it is very bright. But this one I want to use for ice fishing, and I would rather have more light time than light amount for this.

Either way you go, a pretty good deal, besides, a guy can never have to many lanterns.:)

Coleman Dual mantle propane lantern was on sale for $11.99, yesterday at the Allen Park Target (on the hill). There was only 1 left after I bought mine. Seemed like a good deal since my white gas one is out of commission.

dont kill the messenger but, i called and told my grandpa about this sale on lanterns at target and he told me he didn't care if they were giving them away because of them being supporters of anti-hunting..i never knew this but i guess it could be true seeing that they sell no hunting stuff...anyone have any more info on this..
