I have a new Lund due to arrive around Easter. I was thinking of putting some boating items on my Chirstmas list. Any ideas?

I took care of the big ticket items when I made the order, GPS, fishfinders, ect...

How about a nice tool kit ?

One of those that come with all of the basics in one place. They generally come in a nice plastic case that's easy to store. You should ALWAYS have basic tools whenever you leave port !

A digital camera
A Boga Grip

Congrats on the new rig.
What do you usually fish for? We can spend your money easier if we had an idea what toys are appropriate.
:D

I agree with ESOX, gotta know what your fishing for. jpollmans suggestion for a good toolkit is a great one. I just got a craftsman wrench and socket set(w/screwdrives and allen wrenches), all in a hard plastic organizer case for my birthday for he boat.

Here are some under $100 ideas(not all the best "gift ideas, but.."
-Spare trailer wheel, tire, hub, and bearing set and tire carrier($100)
-LED trailer lights(on my list)($70)
-Trailer coupler lock(the kind that fits up where the ball goes)($25)
- Washdown kit(if its appropriote for your new boat and if it doesnt have one)($100)
-On Board Battery Charger($60+)
-Rod Holders, Tackle Tracks, Etc...($-$$$$)
-Marine Cooler(Make a good xtra seat if you buy the pad for the top)
- Storage Cover for the boat.
- Rain Gear too match the boat(Gotta look good doin' it)
- Hand Held Spotlight(I got a 12v/110v rechargable 500k candlepower cordless for like $15 at BPS)

If I went home and stood on my boats, I could probably come up with 100 this and thats, but you'll never have everything you need...

If you venture a ways off shore, I would carrya handheld GPS and Handheld VHF for backup. I do. You can get each for about $70 if you shop around. If your electronics die out there, none of your fixed mount stuff is gonna work. It's cheap insurance I guess.

I good set of boat fenders, for use when docking, always come in handy for protecting your boat.

You could always use extra dock lines, maybe a spare anchor and line, you never know when your going to snag something on the bottom and have to cut the rope to get away,,,,, it happened to me already.

Extra dock lines and anchor rope is a must.

Odds -n- ends:
Nice long set of jumper cables
First aid kit
Spare fuse kit
Kit with assorted screws, nuts, bolts, washers (I've tapped into this a lot)
Kit with assorted electrical components (terminals, wire, wire nuts..etc)
Floating key ring for boat keys
Pliers with wire snip for removing hooks and cutting fishing line
Fold up cup holders for the boat
A golf towel hanging in a handy place will take care of the messy jobs too.

Good luck with the new fishin machine!

One of the best things I ever bought for my boat was a on board battery charger. I'll never own another boat without one. The boat i have has three batteries, it's great to just plug it in and forget it.

Great Ideas Everyone!

I set the boat up with a 3 bank charger. I've listened to everyone and included it in the purchase. I also included a compass, spare tire, and cover.

I already have good raingear and a handheld mapping GPS, but I could use a RAM mount for the GPS.

Tools for the boat, coolers, jumper cables, great ideas.

Bumpers, anchor line, and radio all even better ideas.

If you don't already have one, get a drift sock. They are good for slowing your troll or drift and God forbid your motor dies can be attached off the bow to keep it headed into the wind.

A full compliment of safety gear is required for the Great Lakes if you are fishing on them. It's a good idea to have the stuff anyway.

Someone already mentioned a VHF radio; also include a flare gun, orange flag, and an air horn.

Also 2 oars/paddles are good ideas to have, if you ever find yourself without main engine power and the trolling battery dies while you're limping to shore.
