I live a couple miles away from water, but In the warm weather I frequently will find water frogs on my property in puddles and planters that might have water standing in them. I can't imagine them traveling miles just to find a puddle, but I guess anything is possible. These aren't toads, the typical leopard looking frogs or small bull frogs etc.

The frogs you mentioned are actually grass frogs even though they frequent water, particularly to lay eggs.... the eggs get stuck to wading bird legs and are deposited into puddles, ditches, etc...

The "small bullfrogs" you mentioned are most likely actually green frogs which look like a small bullfrog...

I hope this helps

The last three years I have had a ton of the green frogs stuck to the side of my house. I put a fluorescent bulb on the back porch to help feed them at night, cool little buggers.
