I'm interested in finding and joining some sort of hunt club in Michigan that would offer deer, turkey, waterfowl, etc.. Anyone know of a good all around club that may have memberships available? I can probably afford something up to the mid $40's for initial lifetime fee + yearly dues.

Or, if anyone is interested in pooling re sources and forming a club of our own. I figure if we can get 10-13 people at $40,000 each. That would give about a half million to purchase a couple hundred acres.

I am a member of a hunt club with Uncles and brothers. I have friends who are in clubs that consist of a bunch of people who got together. One thing I can tell you for sure is make sure you get your rules down in writing and have everyone sign and agree to them. If you don't, no matter how well you know everyone involved, something down the line will cause problems and it usually isn't friendly after that.

3006, a couple hundred acres for 10 guys is only 20 acres per person. I don't think I will ever join a club but if I did, I wouldn't do it at any less than 200 acrs/hunter. I would also have to know and trust the guys very well.

I did some thinking on this subject (as well as buying land) several years ago....thats when the "Michigan Sporting Alliance" or some such thing was going on and there was a lot of ads in the local gun and outdoor magazines trying to get people to join.
At any rate, the "alliance" supposedly went belly up and a lot of sportsmen who paid good money that they worked hard for didn't get what they were promised, nor did they get thier money back.
I also thought about buying land....a nice parcel of property that I could call my own and have my friends come and hunt with me. Then I did a little math.....80 acres (which I felt to be a reasonable size of ground) at $1000/acre (more in some areas)= $80,000! Do you know how many antelope, mule deer, moose hunts, ect that money could buy? Not only that, but every "fair weather" friend will come out of the wood work looking for a place to hunt a month before firearms deer season....people you haven't heard from since last deer season. If you don't let them hunt, your a no good SOB, ect. There are the taxes you have to pay for a two week to 3 month season, and you are never sure who is tresspassing on YOUR property when you are not there. Oh, and don't forget that they can sue you for damages while tresspassing if anything bad happens to them.
Also, you are now locked into hunting an area that may have deer this year, but none next (452?)
IMHO, if I had that much money to spend, I would invest it as wisely as possible and then spend the profits on an occasional big game hunt out of state. You might as well enjoy it to your liking. Heck, you can't take it with you, and what are your kids going to spend it on? ;)

I know of a club in Lake City that some friends of mine are in. You pay on a yearly basis its 300 dollars for 10 acres but you have to lease a minimum of 20 acres. They manage the property by doing there own deer counts and shooting nothing less than a eight point. When doe populations get high the members draw for the priveledge of shooting a doe. They have some darn nice bucks roaming due to management pratices. When they first hunted this area they told me they would rarely see a buck. If you need to know more throw out a post to catch my attention and I can set you up with these guys.

Hey, If your thinking of forming a hunt club, I'm sure others are also. Have you checked out any parcels? I've seen a few for sale over the last couple years. They were in Gladwin, Rose City, and Curren.
