I have a 2001 Chevy Blazer-trans went out back in August. Was questioning whether or not to have it rebuilt/replaced or to get rid of it. Got some quotes-but was wondering if anyone does that kind of stuff on the side?

I have never had a rebuilt that was worth a toot unless it was an OEM supplied replacement. Check with your local Chevy dealer, you may be suprised how inexpensive it can be. Last one I had done on a CK2500 atfter a hard 125,000 miles was less than some guys wanted to do a rebuild for, and the truck ran another 125,000 before the guy I sold it to finally sold it and I lost track of it.

I can personally recomend Larry (Rat City Hooker) as a transmission specialist. He has done work for me and people I know and does a very good job and is reasonably priced. He is located in Maple Rapids so it might be to far away.

I second Larry AKA RatcityHooker. He is an advertiser here as well. I took my sons car to him even though he was 140 miles away. Nothing but complete satisfaction.

Where are you located? I know someone that lives up in New Haven(29& North Ave) that could do it for you and he is very reasonable. He just did a rear wheel bearing on my 03 explorer. I bought the part for 121.00 and he put it on for 150.00.This man used to have his own transmission shop when he was younger. He does everything out of his 3 stall garage. This man is the father of a woman that I work with and I have trusted him to do a few things on my vehicle and never had to take it back to him,he does good work and fast turn around too.If you are interested in talking with him shoot me a P.m. and I will forward his number to you.
