Well what a way to spend Boxing day with my belly full of turkey, primerib and now PERCH:lol::lol:, Managed to sneak away for an hour, went 200 yards off shore from the end of my road and caught around 30 nice perch nothing to big all between "9-11" with a couple 13+ but they lived to see another hook.Had about "5" of good ice but that could change tommorow with a heavy rain fall warning in effect, the lake still has some open spots in the big lake but most of the bays are frozen with some guys putting huts out now scary but what can I say. So buy the new year I hope we should be good to travel everywhere I Hope!!!
I hope everyone had a good christmas and maybe we will see you up here on Simcoe in the new year.

Dusty

Dusty, what part of Lake Simco are you on or fish, I was talking to the guy that wants to head over and I told him I wasn't sure. Is their a good place to stay in the area? if you only fished for a couple hours us state boys should be able to get our 50 for a days limit if we have a hole day to fish. Can you get to the white fish & lake trout this early? thinking if we got our limit in perch them go after some thing else. Our ice is not going to be to great after the rain we are getting, just thinking a early trip and leave the bugs behind for later. We have to find some fishing some place.

Steve Myers: we plan on taking our atv with us, do you have, or do you have someone take you to your rented shanty. Never been their before.
I know that they have guides that will set you right up. The guy I'm going with has been their a few times. Just going with his past experience.

We always rent huts.If you got ATV if you go on the Lake Simcoe website theres a good guide that will let you follow him out for a few bucks too his name on there is Sly or slyatv or you can just follow the roads they have on the ice out to some good areas too.We fish alot at Virginia Beach where its like 10 to 12 foot and you can see them but if you go out in over 20 foot I think you get some bigger ones although I got one over 14 I got mounted.

Well the wind has taken our ice away again we are getting 40-50 mph gusts here out of the west not sure what the east looks like but the west is gone this is a picture from west side looking at fox island looks like 5 foot white caps ou there. Down in Cooks bay the ice is holding but is gone down as far as Little cedar Point on west side and the wind is still blowing hard:rant::rant::rant:
I guess it will be a little longer then what we thought

Regards

if you are taking your own shacks it is ok , but if you plan on renting one you are better off to let them take you out...the extra tolls in Canada suck ,,on the toll road it is a shocker when they send you the bill a couple months later

Yes don;t take that road it is ungodly price to travel it and not mush slower going the cheaper way.

I'm confused......if you're renting, aren't you ALREADY on the lake??? Why would someone have to pay toll if we're renting a shack that's already on the lake???

The ticket's more than the toll. That toll sux. When the exchange rate was better, it didn't hurt quite so badly. Capnhook
