I have never targeted walleye in this lake, but I have heard reports that its a good walleye fishery. I have had great success bass fishing this lake in the summer. Also a well known muskie fishery (check the rule book).
good luck

Its good for walleye but you got to find them. Went out wednesday to check the ice. Lots of snow and slop on top of 4 ins. Looked like open water in some spots. We are going out today and try. Looks like the last time for a while. Might have to do some traveling to find hard water. Will let you know the outcome on Thornapple....

Just got back. Fished off the boat launch. Two inches of hard ice with another two made of of hard snow. Got out to the drop off and fished in 14 foot of water. Ice a little (?) iffy out farther. 1 1/2 in. Fishing slow but managed 20 smaller perch. Seemed to hit best on mousies and minnows. Bigger ones on minnows. Don't know what will happen to the ice after tomorrow. Maiden voyage of a new fish trap scout and a ShowDown fish finder. Trap is nice. The seat could use an upgrade. Better than a bucket! Spent most of the day playing with the ShowDown. Caught fish I would have normally missed. Need a little more practice..... Good to get out!!!
