Anyone been on big bass lake or harper lake yet?

I just spoke to my cousin who lives up there. He didn't mention those lakes but said lake cadillac has people fishing on it and I think it freezes later than most. Do they plow the access to those lakes? He said they have gotten a ton of snow up there, so if you have to walk from the road it will be tough going.

Going up this weekend. Hopefully the rain doesn't do too much damage to the ice.

Have not heard anything about either lake. However my understanding is that Harper Lake with the primary springs is a tough one for early ice or if there is deep snow on it. I would use caution on Harper. I used to fish Loon Lake in the area when my buddies dad had a place on Loon. But I generally stay with Big Bass. My only problem with BBL is that there are so few pike that tip-up fishing is almost a waste of time.

You might try calling a bait shop in the area to get local conditions.

I was up on BBL this past week. Ice was real solid after the short warm spell right after X-mas. The rain and warmth took most of the snow off the lake and the cold temps tightened it up real nice. However the boat launch still has a lot of snow at the enterance. So it will add to the walk.

Loon lake had more anglers on it than BBL. But access is limited since its all private.

The fishing on BBL was pretty poor or I just was in the wrong areas.

a buddy has a place on loon,,how is the fishing there,we get some nice gills when the water is soft.Is it worth putting tip-ups in for pike?

Fished harper today, there were 3 of us. We saw one pike and 4 bass in about 4 hours of fishing with 2 cameras going. We move around enough but never found any fish. 8" of ice with too many snowmobiles racing around.
