Lake St Clair is a good bet. There are plenty of DNR access spot around and you should have no trouble finding some Dinks, I mean,,,fish.. :D

Seriously, there are a lot of good spots around and if you are not comfortable with the ice conditions you can stay in the canals where the ice is plenty thick enough.

There are some great folks here and I am sure someone will chime in with some better advise as I am new to this ice fishing thing and already "hooked".

Good luck to ya!

Lyle

your best bet for ice conditions and accessability would be fair haven. either the dnr launch or the raft. Both have good ice and are short walks. There is a bait shop right next door to the dnr ramp. Gte into 4-5 fow and good luck! This is located on At the north end of Anchor bay! Do a yahoo map or google map to Fair Haven. You cant miss it!

I live in Ferndale and trust me if you wan't to fish anywhere close to there you are out of luck. Your best bet for a smaller inland lake would be the Kego Harbor area or Kensington Park off of 96 about 20 miles west of Ferndale. I fish there in the summer but haven't tried it for ice fishing. I plan on going some time this year though. Lake St. Clair isn't too far away either. My best suggestion would be to google map the area and then drive there one afternoon. When you get close to the lake you will see people fishing. Go where the people are. Usually 4-5 feet of water and if you can locate any weed beds you are in good shape. Best of luck!

First of all at age 19 you are WAY too young for a girlfriend. :D

Second of all, yeah LSC is relatively safe these days in the Anchor bay area. Also maybe Stoney Creek lake. I think some guys have been out on it within the past week. Both lakes are good for panfish. Bring waterproof boots. Wherever you go will be very sloppy with all of the melting slow and slush.

No girlfriend until age 25....

Stoney creek is a meropark lake. py to get in($4). You can get out in multiple spots. For panfish id try the boat rental area or the boat launch.

MTC, if you are going ot drive all the way from Ferndale to Stony Creek you are better off hitting some of the canal spots off LSC mentioned earlier (easy drive East on 696 to 94). I am very close to Stony Creek and would pass it to hit the canals if I get out this weekend.
