OK guys, I am 1.5 hours away from "downriver" but TRULY LOVE to fish for the perch over there. the question is whether or not there is safe ice in areas that hold any fish. My buddy and I have fished airport bay on the ice, and "ALL OVER" around there in open water. can you fish off the lake erie beach area?? I know there were some fish there this fall.... Just asking can a guy get to some good ice on wednesday am? or do we stay local and pick on the gills that we have "tied up" under the ice. PM's greatly appreciated if you don't wanna post spots publicly. I get over there about 2 or 3 times each spring and fall. maybe a couple times on the ice so I ain't gonna fish out your spots either. good luck to all. be safe

My word, that seems like an awful area for fishing "off of the beach". You have the Huron river coming into the area, and worse you have the Trenton Channel rolling down 5 miles north. That is a SEVERE current generator. I guess some back bay might be okay but I just don't know, there has to be some better ice to fish somewhere.

You know, I did an indepth Google sattelite search of the area a couple of week back, and check out the southside of the banana dyke, between there and Fermi.
