Went down to little 7 lake yesterday, 2" black ice 2" white ice 2" slush and anywhere from 0-20" of snow (where the snow was gone another half inch of ice formed on top of the slush. Fishing sucked, only about 15 gills over 6" but caught a million dinks, not like last week where we limited in 3 hrs nothing smaller than 6.5" average 8". You could could see the fish, they just came up and investigated, they had no intention to eat. Maybe the front screwed them up I dont know. If mother nature would like to melt all this snow then freeze like hell for a week i would not object.

Did you by chance give your bait away to a couple guys in a black shanty last week? If so that was me and my brother and we almost got our limit before we had to leave. Came back on Sunday for two hours and got a dozen good sized one each with a few throw backs. I wanted to go out this past week but had to watch the kids. I might try that lake or our special lake that we have not had a chance to get to yet??? Any reports from the BIG 7??? I have never hard water fished that but had good luck in the sumer. Good luck and be safe.

yea, that was me and "hardwater fanatic". we are talking about trying to get down there again sometime soon but the weather dosen't look like it will cooperate anytime soon. i heard a report that there was 4" at the boat launch on big 7, but with how bad little 7 was i doubt big will be fishable. we mainly fish the sag river but it might be a week or two into the new year before we're able to get out on to it. in the meantime if big 7 gets some good ice we might try it, it looks like the dnr stocked the hell out of that lake, but ive never fished it so i don't know. tight lines & stay safe.
