chippewa lake, conflicting reports

I was hoping someone who knows first hand how the ice is on chippewa lake in Mecosta co could update ice conditions.
I've been getting conflicting reports. One person has said that it is being fished and I've read on two other sites that ice conditions are unsafe due to the snowfall.
I'm really itching to go but I don't want to drive 40 minutes to find that its not good yet. Thanks for any info.

Have lots of family that live on or close to the lake. There is enough ice to fish and drive snowmobiles on. As far as the catching of fish not too sure. I have fished the lake for twenty years and it seems to be slow all winter. However its still not that bad. Plenty of specks and walleye if you put in the time... good luck

some fishing on Chippewa(east Bay) but slow I know for a fact that specs are red-hot on Lake Mecosta, as of last Saturday...good ice as well, but now tons of snow on top
